Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yetunde Barnabas has vowed to take action against individuals she accused of bullying her, attacking her career and deliberately attempting to damage her reputation.
Barnabas expressed her frustration in a lengthy Instagram post, saying she had remained silent for a considerable period but had reached a point where she could no longer ignore what she described as persistent attacks.
The actress said she had invested years of hard work, sacrifices and resources into building her career and would not allow anyone to undermine her achievements.
“Enough is enough! I have stayed quiet for long enough, but I can no longer sit back and watch you people bully me, deliberately tarnish my name, attack my career and constantly discredit the work I have sacrificed so much to build,” she wrote.
Barnabas explained that her journey in the entertainment industry had not been without challenges, noting that she had worked hard to establish herself as an actress, filmmaker and producer.
She said she had made significant sacrifices along the way and remained proud of the career she had built.
“I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am today. I have faced challenges, made sacrifices, and built my career from the ground up. I will not allow anyone to destroy what I have worked years to build,” she added.
The filmmaker also directly addressed an Instagram user identified as @ajefunke_kofoshi, asking the person to remove what she described as a hateful post about her.
Barnabas maintained that she had committed no wrongdoing by choosing filmmaking as a career, producing movies or investing her own resources in her projects.
She specifically mentioned her movie, OJISE, which she said was produced with a N30 million budget.
“@ajefunke_kofoshi I am publicly asking you to take down the hateful post you made about me. I have committed no crime by being a filmmaker, by building my career, or by investing in my own projects,” she said.
The actress added that she remained proud of the work put into OJISE and would not allow anyone to discredit the project or the effort behind it.
“I produced OJISE with a N30 million budget, and I am proud of the work that went into it. I will not sit quietly while anyone deliberately tries to rubbish my name or discredit my work,” she added.
Barnabas also raised concerns over what she described as an alleged hate group created to target her and criticise her projects.
According to the actress, she had been informed that some people were allegedly discussing ways to force her out of the entertainment industry.
She said she did not know who was behind the alleged group but suggested that her role in the early monetisation of YouTube could be connected to the hostility she claimed to have experienced.
“What concerns me even more is discovering that there is allegedly a hate group created specifically to constantly attack me and tarnish every project I put out,” she wrote.
Barnabas said she had decided to involve the authorities in the matter going forward, signalling a shift from remaining silent to actively addressing what she described as deliberate attacks.
The filmmaker insisted that she had nothing to hide and rejected any suggestion that her achievements were connected to criminal activity.
“I am not a thief, I am not a criminal, I am a filmmaker, a producer, a businesswoman, and a woman who has worked incredibly hard for everything she has today,” she said.
She also defended her right to celebrate her achievements, saying she would not apologise for her success or the resources she had invested in her career.
Barnabas concluded by vowing to protect her name, work and professional reputation.
“I will not apologise for my success. From this point forward, I will protect my name, my career, my work, and everything I have built. Enough is enough,” she added.
Her comments come as she continues to combine acting with filmmaking and production, while insisting that criticism should not be used as a tool to deliberately undermine her professional efforts.
