Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has described his performance in the crime thriller One Gidi Night as the most challenging role of his acting career.
Uzor Arukwe disclosed this on X on Sunday, October 18, 2026, while promoting the film, which was written, produced and directed by James Abinibi.
In the movie, Uzor Arukwe takes on the demanding task of portraying twin brothers, Engees and Eazy, whose similar appearances conceal their contrasting personalities.'
While Engees is presented as a villainous character, Eazy is a blind chemist. The difference between the brothers requires Uzor Arukwe to bring distinct characteristics to each role, allowing viewers to recognise their individual identities despite their physical resemblance.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Uzor Arukwe described the characters in a post on X, suggesting that audiences would have strong reactions to the twins when they watch the film.
The dual performance presents a different challenge from playing a single character, as Uzor Arukwe must communicate the brothers' individual personalities and motivations throughout the story.
One Gidi Night is a crime thriller set in Lagos that follows a series of dangerous events unfolding over the course of one night.
The story centres on Ejiro, played by Gabriel Afolayan, a dispatch rider whose routine work takes an unexpected turn and leaves him fighting for survival.
As the situation becomes increasingly dangerous, the characters are forced to confront difficult circumstances and make decisions with serious consequences.
The film also features Wumi Toriola as Busayo, Idia Aisien as Slasha, Kelvin Ikeduba as Officer Bright and Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, as Jide.
Through its themes of desperation, survival, family and the consequences of human choices, the production explores how quickly ordinary circumstances can develop into a life-threatening situation.
One Gidi Night premiered in Nigerian cinemas in September 2026, with FilmOne Entertainment responsible for its distribution.
Uzor Arukwe's portrayal of Engees and Eazy is a central talking point surrounding the production, given the challenge of bringing two contrasting characters to life within the same film.
His description of the role as his most challenging yet has also highlighted the demands of the project as audiences continue to discover the characters and the story behind the Lagos-set thriller.
