Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has advised women who are unhappy in their marriages to consider walking away rather than remaining in relationships that negatively affect their emotional and psychological well-being.

Uche Ogbodo shared her views on marriage and infidelity, questioning the double standards that often exist when men and women are involved in extramarital affairs.

The actress expressed concern about the way society sometimes treats infidelity differently depending on the gender of the person involved.

She challenged the notion that men should be excused for cheating while women are expected to tolerate such behaviour or face criticism when they decide to leave their marriages.

Uche Ogbodo maintained that women should not feel compelled to remain in unhappy relationships simply because of societal expectations or pressure to preserve their marriages at all costs.

According to her, a marriage should not become a source of constant emotional distress, and women deserve to make decisions that protect their peace and well-being.

The actress also drew attention to the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise in troubled relationships. She suggested that remaining in an unhealthy marriage can have serious consequences, particularly when one partner repeatedly engages in behaviour that causes the other person pain.

Uche Ogbodo's comments have renewed conversations about marriage, commitment, gender expectations and the pressure women face when dealing with marital difficulties.

In many communities, women are often encouraged to endure problems in their marriages, even when the relationships have become unhealthy.

Such expectations can make it difficult for some women to consider separation, particularly when they fear criticism from family members, friends or society.

However, discussions surrounding marital challenges increasingly highlight the importance of mutual respect, emotional safety and accountability between partners.

Infidelity remains a sensitive issue in relationships, with opinions often differing on how couples should respond when trust has been broken.

While some partners choose to work through their differences, others decide that ending the relationship is the best option for their circumstances.

Uche Ogbodo's position emphasises that women should have the freedom to assess their situations and make decisions without being subjected to unfair judgment or unequal standards.

Her remarks have added to ongoing discussions about the expectations placed on women in marriage and the importance of recognising that maintaining a relationship should not come at the expense of an individual's well-being.
