MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a new subscription structure for DStv and GOtv, introducing eight packages aimed at giving customers more options and making pay television more accessible across different budgets.
The new plans, which will become available on November 5, 2026, were unveiled by the company at a media briefing in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday.
The initiative forms part of its efforts to improve customer experience, expand content offerings and adapt to changing entertainment habits.
Under the revised arrangement, DStv subscribers will choose from Starter, Select, Sports and Premium, while GOtv customers will have access to Easy, Starter, Select and Sports packages.
DStv's new monthly subscription rates are N6,000 for Starter, N11,000 for Select, N21,000 for Sports and N44,500 for Premium.
The company's Chief Executive Officer, Kemi Omotosho, said the changes followed a review of its existing offerings, noting that customers increasingly expect greater flexibility and better value for their money.
She explained that viewers now watch programmes through different devices, including smartphones, tablets and smart televisions, making it necessary for the company to provide more convenient ways to access content.
According to her, the new structure will allow subscribers to select packages that suit their needs and upgrade whenever they want access to additional programmes.
Omotosho also highlighted the benefits of MultiChoice's relationship with French media group CANAL+, which took effective control of the company in September 2025. She said the partnership would encourage the exchange of expertise in technology, programming and personnel.
In addition to the revised subscription plans, MultiChoice announced complimentary access to DStv Stream and a promotional offer involving a decoder and subscription for N15,000 for customers choosing either DStv or GOtv.
Senior MultiChoice Nigeria executive Tope Oshunkeye disclosed that the revamp would include changes to the company's channel lineup, covering sports, films, local productions and international entertainment.
Among the additions is SuperSport Kick Off, designed to bring selected sporting content together at a more affordable price.
The company is also introducing M-Net Movies Plus, combining content previously available on M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 2.
Another addition, M-Net Stars, will showcase Hollywood movies and popular screen personalities, while Africa Magic Family will now be known as Africa Magic Plus.
Oshunkeye explained that the packages would cater to different viewing preferences. Premium will retain a broad selection of international sporting events, including Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and international boxing.
The Sports package, meanwhile, will focus on major football competitions, particularly the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
The company said subscribers on this tier would have access to all Champions League matches and Premier League football for N21,000 monthly.
Select will concentrate on local entertainment, while Starter will offer a mixture of programmes at a lower entry-level price.
MultiChoice also emphasised that customers would not necessarily need satellite dishes or decoders to enjoy its content, as streaming options would allow viewing on compatible devices.
The changes come amid growing competition from digital streaming platforms and increasing pressure on traditional pay television providers to demonstrate value.
With the new packages, MultiChoice hopes to retain existing customers, attract new subscribers and give households more control over how much they spend on entertainment.
