Twenty-five years after the original Issakaba story captured the attention of Nigerian movie audiences, the franchise is set to return to the big screen with a new chapter titled Issakaba: The Return.

The new movie is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on November 13, 2026, bringing back the title’s central character while introducing a new generation of characters, a more sophisticated form of evil and a city facing growing danger.

The production announcement sets the tone with a warning that “evil now has a new face and sophistication,” while communities tremble and death moves through the streets.

At the centre of the story is the question of whether Issakaba will return when darkness appears to have risen beyond control.

‘Will Issakaba Ever Return?’

The promotional material builds anticipation around the possible return of the iconic character, asking, “WILL ISSAKABA EVER RETURN?”

The question forms the central mystery surrounding Issakaba: The Return, with the film promising a story filled with danger, action and supernatural elements.

The tagline, “you can run, but you can’t hide… duty calls,” further points to the responsibility facing Issakaba as the threat grows.

The production describes the new evil as something that has risen beyond control, leaving people searching for answers while the city and surrounding communities face an uncertain future.

Star-Studded Cast

Issakaba: The Return features an extensive cast made up of established Nollywood actors, entertainers and comedy stars.

The cast includes Sam Dede, Chidi Mokeme, Abarex, Iyabo Ojo, Regina Daniels, Mark Angel, Phyna and Itele D Icon.

Alex Usifo, Chiwetalu Agu, Benjamin Olaye, Sani Danja, Chudika Shimawo, Charles Okafor, Francis Onwuchei and Ogundumike are also part of the production.

The combination of veteran actors and younger entertainers gives the new instalment a broad cast as it revisits the Issakaba franchise for contemporary audiences.

A New Chapter For The Franchise

The return of Issakaba comes 25 years after the original story, giving the new production a connection to a well-known Nigerian movie franchise while introducing a fresh chapter.

The promotional campaign places particular emphasis on the passage of time, suggesting that the new threat facing the city is different from what audiences may remember.

With evil described as having a new and more sophisticated face, the film sets up a conflict between the forces of darkness and the return of the character at the heart of the franchise.

Issakaba: The Return will open in cinemas nationwide on November 13, 2026.

For fans familiar with the original franchise and audiences discovering the title for the first time, the new movie promises a combination of action, drama, supernatural conflict and a large ensemble cast when it arrives on the big screen.
