Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has submitted five entries for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, with his sixth studio album, Oriade, and several collaborative songs featuring across multiple categories.

The submissions include some of the music projects the singer hopes will earn recognition at the 69th edition of the prestigious awards, covering categories such as Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

According to The Grammy Guru, which announced the entries, Oriade was submitted in four categories, making the album a significant part of Davido’s campaign for recognition at the forthcoming ceremony.

The album was entered for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Album Cover.

The submissions also include collaborations with other artistes, reflecting Davido’s work across different musical projects.

‘Oriade’ Leads Davido’s Grammy Submissions

Davido’s Oriade features prominently among his entries, with the album submitted for consideration in four categories.

The Album of the Year category recognises albums across musical genres, while Best Global Music Album focuses on recordings that showcase music from different cultural traditions and regions.

The album’s other entries are Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Album Cover, categories that recognise technical production quality and visual presentation, respectively.

Beyond the album, Davido’s collaboration with Mayorkun and Fola, titled B4 B4, was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

His song with TxC, Nakupenda, also received submissions in two categories: Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

Another entry, I Know Who I Be, was submitted for Best Music Video.

Davido’s collaboration with Ayra Starr and French Montana, Le Show, was also listed for Best African Music Performance.

Announcing the submissions, The Grammy Guru wrote, “Davido’s Official Submissions for the 2027 #GRAMMYs (exclusive to The Grammy Guru),” before listing the works and their respective categories.

The announcement has placed the singer’s latest projects in the conversation surrounding the next Grammy Awards, although submission does not automatically guarantee a nomination.

Grammy Voting And Nomination Dates

The Recording Academy has scheduled first-round voting for the 69th Grammy Awards to run from October 12 to 22.

The nominees are expected to be announced on November 16, with the main ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on February 7, 2027.

The submissions will go through the Academy’s consideration and voting process before the final nominees are determined.

Davido has received five Grammy nominations during his career but is yet to win the award.

His latest submissions therefore provide another opportunity for his music to be considered across several categories at the international awards ceremony.

The singer remains one of Nigeria’s prominent Afrobeats artistes, with collaborations forming part of his musical catalogue and international profile.

Asake Also Submits Entries For 2027 Awards

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian singer Asake has submitted four entries for consideration at the forthcoming Grammy Awards.

His submissions include M$NEY, his album, as well as Jogodo, his collaboration with Wizkid, and Worship, recorded with DJ Snake.

According to the information provided, the entries span categories including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

The submissions by both artistes have drawn attention to the presence of Nigerian music in the consideration process for the 2027 ceremony.

While Davido’s entries feature his album and several collaborations, Asake’s submissions include both solo work and projects recorded with other musicians.

However, the final outcome will depend on the Recording Academy’s voting process and the nominees announced in November.

For now, both singers have placed their respective projects forward for consideration, with the industry awaiting the official nominations ahead of the February 2027 ceremony.
