Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has reflected on the concert he considers one of the most transformative moments of his career as he prepares to return to France for a major NFL performance.

The Afro-fusion star described his sold-out 2025 concert at the Stade de France in Paris as “the most life-changing moment” of his life.

Burna Boy made history in April 2025 when he became the first African artiste to headline a solo concert at the iconic 80,000-capacity stadium.

Burna Boy recalls career-defining performance

Looking back on the landmark concert in a recent interview, the singer spoke about the impact the experience had on him personally and professionally.

“It was the most life-changing moment of my life,” Burna Boy said.

The performance represented another major milestone in a career that has seen the Nigerian artiste grow from a rising act in Port Harcourt to one of Africa’s most recognised performers on the international stage.

The Stade de France concert also demonstrated the scale of Burna Boy’s global following, with the singer commanding one of Europe’s biggest stadium venues as a solo headliner.

Singer returns to Stade de France

Burna Boy is scheduled to return to the same venue on October 25 for the 2026 NFL halftime show.

The performance will take place during a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New Orleans Saints, an event that will mark the NFL’s first game in France.

With the previous Stade de France concert still fresh in his memory, Burna Boy expressed optimism about his upcoming appearance.

“If it is anything like my shows, like the last time I was here? Then, it would be amazing,” he said.

His comments reflect his confidence in the energy generated by his live performances and his expectation that the NFL event will deliver a memorable experience for the audience.

Another milestone on the global stage

The NFL appearance adds another international achievement to Burna Boy’s growing list of career milestones.

His scheduled performance comes weeks after fellow Nigerian singer Ayra Starr reportedly made history as the first artiste to headline an NFL halftime show.

Burna Boy’s participation further highlights the increasing presence of African musicians on major international entertainment platforms.

For the singer, returning to the Stade de France for an NFL event carries additional significance because of the personal impact his previous concert at the venue had on him.

From ‘Like to Party’ to global recognition

Burna Boy first rose to prominence with “Like to Party,” the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E, which was released in 2013.

Over the years, he has developed a distinctive Afro-fusion sound while building an international audience and establishing himself as one of Nigeria and Africa’s leading musical exports.

His discography includes On a Spaceship (2015), Outside (2018), African Giant (2019), Twice As Tall (2020), Love, Damini (2022), I Told Them (2023) and No Sign of Weakness (2025).

His career has also been marked by major international recognition, including multiple Grammy nominations.

Burna Boy has received 13 Grammy nominations, reportedly the highest number recorded by a Nigerian artiste. He won the Best Global Music Album award in 2021 for Twice As Tall, further cementing his position among Africa’s most successful contemporary musicians.

Anticipation builds for NFL show

As Burna Boy prepares to step onto the Stade de France stage once again, attention is now focused on what he will deliver at the historic NFL event.

His previous performance at the venue remains a defining moment in his career, and his comments suggest that he is hoping to recreate the atmosphere and energy that made that concert so significant.

The upcoming show therefore represents more than another performance for the Nigerian star. It is another opportunity for Burna Boy to showcase African music to a global audience while returning to a venue that he has already described as the site of one of the most important moments of his life.
