The highly anticipated biographical film Adedibu, Alagbara Ibadan, chronicling the life and political influence of the late Ibadan political heavyweight, Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, has premiered exclusively on Libra TV.
The movie, which premiered on Sunday, October 4, 2026, tells the story of Alhaji Lamidi Adesina “Adedibu”, a political figure whose influence became deeply associated with the politics of Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria.
The biopic takes viewers through different stages of Adedibu’s life, examining his rise from the streets of Ibadan to the corridors of political power, as well as the influence, struggles and legacy that made him one of the most recognisable figures in the region’s political history.
Bringing Adedibu’s Story To The Screen
Known as the “strongman of Ibadan politics”, Adedibu was regarded as a major force within the political landscape of Oyo State.
Adedibu, Alagbara Ibadan seeks to bring that history to life through a dramatic portrayal of the man behind the political reputation.
The movie explores his political journey, relationships and the influence he wielded during his years in public life.
By focusing on both his rise and the challenges surrounding his political career, the production presents a story that goes beyond the title of a political heavyweight and examines the experiences that shaped his public identity.
The film also highlights his lasting impact on Oyo State and the wider Nigerian political scene.
Lere Paimo Leads Cast
Veteran Nollywood actor Lere Paimo takes on the lead role as Adedibu.
His involvement places an experienced actor at the centre of a story requiring the portrayal of a well-known political personality whose name remains significant in the history of Ibadan politics.
The production also features a notable ensemble of Nollywood actors, including Dele Odule, Afeez “Saka” Oyetoro, Segun Arinze, Adekola Tijani, Kayode “Aderupoko” Olaiya and Taiwo Ibikunle.
Other members of the cast include Jide Awobona, Biola Bayo, Shushu, Tunde Olayusuf, Anike Ami, Olaide Almaroof, Omoakin, Kenny Iya Ijebu and others.
The wide-ranging cast brings together veteran performers and contemporary Nollywood actors for the historical production.
Seun Oloketuyi Produces Film
The biopic was produced by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, while Abiodun Jimoh directed the project.
Other members of the production crew include Callmigreat as director of photography, Danoye45 as production manager, Mayowa handling makeup and Shakiru Akanionifade working on sound.
The production team was tasked with recreating the world surrounding one of Ibadan’s most influential political figures and presenting his story for a contemporary audience.
Preserving Political History
Beyond its entertainment value, the movie has been positioned as an effort to preserve an important part of Nigeria’s political history.
According to the producer, the project was created to ensure that influential figures from the country’s past are not forgotten, particularly by younger generations.
Adedibu’s political career provides a significant subject for such a project because of the influence attributed to him in Ibadan and Oyo State.
The film therefore provides an opportunity for audiences who may not have experienced that period of Nigerian politics firsthand to learn about the personality, relationships and political influence associated with his name.
