Doris Ogala, the Abia State governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has expressed her appreciation to social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, for showing support for her political ambition.
Ogala, who is running on the platform of Omoyele Sowore’s AAC, said she was particularly pleased by the support because VDM had previously made it clear that he was not backing any candidate in the political race.
According to her, the decision to support her campaign despite that position means a lot to her and has given her further encouragement as she pursues her ambition of becoming governor of Abia State.
Speaking directly to VDM, Ogala said:
"I'm the only governorship candidate, VeryDarkMan supports. VDM, I love you my brother for openly supporting my campaign after you've come out to say you do not support any candidate and yet still sew a seed in my ambition. I'm the incoming governor of Abia state"
For Ogala, the support appears to be more than just an endorsement. She sees it as an indication that VDM is willing to encourage an individual candidate even after publicly distancing himself from backing politicians generally.
Her message also carried a personal tone as she referred to VDM as her brother and thanked him for standing behind her ambition. Rather than focusing on a long political statement, she used the opportunity to acknowledge what she considers an important show of support.
Ogala is seeking to position herself as a candidate capable of taking charge of Abia State, with her campaign being carried out under the AAC, the political party led by Sowore.
Her declaration that she is the incoming governor of Abia State also shows the confidence she has in her campaign and her chances in the governorship contest. With the political race gradually taking shape, candidates and their supporters are expected to continue making their positions known as the campaign gathers momentum.
For Ogala, however, VDM’s support has given her another reason to remain confident in the ambition she has chosen to pursue.
She has now made it clear that she intends to push ahead with her governorship bid and is counting on the support of people who believe in what she is trying to achieve for Abia State.
Her appreciation to VDM comes at a time when political endorsements can carry considerable weight, particularly when they come from personalities who have previously maintained that they would rather not openly support any candidate.
Ogala’s message was therefore both a thank-you and a reaffirmation of her determination to continue with the race.
With her campaign still ahead, she remains focused on her goal of becoming the next governor of Abia State, while making it clear that she values every genuine show of support for her political ambition.
