Alhaji Akanni Olayinka Quadri, popularly known as Yinka Quadri, is one of the most respected figures in modern Yoruba theatre and cinema.
With a career spanning more than four decades, his commanding screen presence and ability to portray strict fathers, powerful traditional rulers, and formidable antagonists have established him as one of Nollywood’s enduring legends.
Born on September 6, 1959, on Lagos Island to parents from Oro in Kwara State, Yinka Quadri grew up in the vibrant environment of Lagos.
He attended St. Catholic School, Idumagbo, before proceeding to Christ High School, Ebute Elefun. He later left formal secondary education to pursue his passion for the performing arts.
His acting journey began in 1976 when he co-founded the Afopina Theatre Group with Taiwo Olayinka and other young creatives.
He gained wider recognition after appearing in the popular national television drama series Agbodorogun.
Beyond acting, Quadri has played an important role in the development of Yoruba cinema. He co-founded the renowned Odunfa Caucus alongside fellow veterans Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, and Abbey Lanre. The Lagos-based group became an informal training ground that helped discover, develop, and launch several talents who later became prominent figures in Nollywood.

Gangs of Lagos (2023)
Released as Amazon Prime Video's first African Original feature, Gangs of Lagos introduced Quadri's veteran presence to a wider international streaming audience.
