Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has released her much-anticipated seventh studio album, It’s Yemi Alade, adding another major project to her decade-long music career.

The 16-track album became available on streaming platforms on Friday after two years of creative work by the singer.

The project brings together different sounds and musical influences, with Alade exploring highlife, Afrobeat and Afropop while collaborating with artistes from Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

Among the Nigerian artistes featured on the album are veteran music executive and producer Don Jazzy, Fave, Teni, Spyro and Jeriq.

Alade also expanded the project’s African reach through collaborations with Congolese singer Ferre Gola, French artiste Singuila and Kenyan artistes Bien, Sofiya Nzau and Njerae.

The variety of collaborators reflects Alade’s long-standing connection with African music and her ability to work across different sounds and cultures.

The album contains 16 tracks, offering listeners a mixture of songs that showcase different sides of the singer’s artistry.

The tracklist includes Alhaja, General Market, Coco Na Yam, Little Kiss (E Good), Yemi Mi Lova, Ala Bekee, Owa and Minister of Enjoyment.

Other songs on the project are Don’t Be Shy, Titanium, Earth Song, Paradise, Away, Overtake, Worry and Shawa Shawa (Ashawo).

Alade Celebrates New Album

Following the release, Alade took to Instagram to celebrate the arrival of her latest body of work and reflect on what the album means to her.

The singer described the project as a deeply personal milestone while dedicating it to the supporters who have followed her career from the beginning.

“My 7th studio album and 10th body of work is out now. A love letter to my day 1 fan-mily and a toast to new beginnings and a brand new movement for me,” she wrote.

The release comes as another chapter in Alade’s evolution as an artiste, particularly after years of establishing herself as one of the leading female voices in African music.

From ‘Johnny’ To Global Recognition

Alade rose to widespread prominence after releasing her breakout hit Johnny in 2014.

The song became a major success across Africa and helped establish her as a prominent figure in Nigeria’s music industry.

Since then, she has released several albums and continued to develop a sound that draws from different African musical traditions.

Her ability to perform in English, Yoruba and French has also contributed to her appeal across different audiences.

Over the years, Alade has increasingly positioned herself as an artiste whose music reaches beyond Nigeria, with collaborations and performances connecting her to audiences across the continent and internationally.

Her latest album continues that approach, bringing together Nigerian musicians alongside artistes from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France and Kenya.

A Growing Discography

It’s Yemi Alade becomes the latest addition to a discography that includes several critically and commercially recognised projects.

Her previous albums include King of Queens, released in 2014, Mama Africa in 2016, Black Magic in 2017, Woman of Steel in 2019 and Empress in 2020.

She followed those projects with African Baddie in 2022 and Rebel Queen in 2024.

The release of her seventh studio album also comes after a significant period in her international career.

In 2025, Alade received her first Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for her song Tomorrow.

The nomination marked another recognition of her contribution to African music and her growing presence on the global stage.

With It’s Yemi Alade, the singer has once again brought together different musical influences and a broad selection of collaborators.

The 16-track project represents two years of creative work and gives fans a new collection of songs from an artiste who has continued to evolve since her breakthrough more than a decade ago.

As she celebrates the release, Alade has described the album as both a tribute to her loyal supporters and the beginning of a new chapter in her musical journey.
