Nollywood actor and skit maker Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has addressed questions surrounding Funke Akindele’s absence from the premiere of his first cinema movie, Star Lomo.
The actress and filmmaker was not present at the event, which took place in Lagos on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Her absence generated discussions online, with some social media users wondering if it was linked to a possible disagreement between the two entertainers.
Kamo State has now dismissed such speculation, explaining that Akindele was outside Nigeria at the time of the premiere.
According to him, there was no conflict between them and her inability to attend should not be interpreted as a sign of tension in their relationship.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, the actor appealed to members of the public to stop drawing conclusions about his relationship with the filmmaker.
He said they remain on good terms and revealed that the two had already discussed the premiere before the event. Kamo added that Akindele had expressed her intention to support the movie even though she could not physically attend the celebration.
The actor further urged fans and social media users to concentrate on his new film rather than speculation about his personal relationship with the actress.
Kamo State and Funke Akindele have worked together on several projects. Their professional association became more prominent following Kamo’s appearance as Lebe in the 2024 movie Everybody Loves Jenifa. He later featured in other productions connected with Akindele, including Aiyetoro Town Season 2 and Behind The Scenes.
The release of Star Lomo represents another important step in Kamo State’s acting career, as it marks his first cinema project.
The movie is directed by Kayode Kasum and features an ensemble cast that includes Mike Afolarin, KieKie, Lateef Adedimeji, Folake Babatunde and former Big Brother Naija housemate Koyin Sanusi.
The film is scheduled to begin showing in cinemas across Nigeria on September 25.
With the premiere generating attention ahead of its nationwide release, Kamo’s clarification appears aimed at keeping the spotlight on the movie rather than on speculation surrounding Akindele’s absence.
The actor’s comments also make clear that, despite her absence from the Lagos premiere, Akindele remains supportive of the project. He has therefore asked fans to allow their professional relationship to remain free from unfounded assumptions while they look forward
