Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, will be laid to rest in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, following the announcement of a new burial date by her family.

The family released the funeral arrangements in an obituary shared on the actress’ Instagram page on Monday, outlining the schedule for her final rites.

According to the programme, Osoba’s remains will leave the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) in Sagamu at 9am on Thursday.

The burial service will subsequently be held at Akesan Club, located opposite Iperu Morning Market in Iperu Remo. The service is scheduled to begin at 10am and end at 11am.

The family stated in the funeral announcement that the body would depart OSUTH Sagamu at 9am, followed by the burial service between 10am and 11am.

The interment will take place at the Iperu Remo Cemetery immediately after the service. Mourners have also been asked to observe white as the dress code for the burial.

The new date comes after Osoba’s burial, which was initially scheduled for August 13, was postponed indefinitely by her family.

The actress died in August 2026 at the age of 40, leaving colleagues, friends, family members and fans mourning her death.

Osoba was a familiar face in the Yoruba section of Nollywood and had spent almost two decades building a career in the Nigerian film industry. She worked as both an actress and producer and featured in several movie productions, including Oogun Mi.

Before her death, Osoba had openly spoken about her battle with breast cancer and sought financial support to help fund her treatment and surgery.

In August 2025, she announced that she had recovered from the illness and was preparing to return to acting. At the time, she described her comeback as a period of healing, rebranding and empowerment, expressing her determination to continue her career.

Her death, however, was followed by questions over the circumstances surrounding her final days.

Conflicting accounts emerged from her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and members of Osoba’s family. Onadeko alleged that the actress died after she was taken to a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Members of her family reportedly gave a different account of the events surrounding her final hours, creating uncertainty over what happened before her death.

The conflicting claims generated public concern and prompted calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actress’ demise.

Actor Yomi Fabiyi was among those who called for further investigation and an autopsy, saying such steps would help establish what actually happened before Osoba died.

Despite the growing discussions surrounding her death, her family subsequently cautioned against the circulation of unverified information. The family urged members of the public and the media to rely on information released through its official channels.

With the new burial arrangements now announced, attention has shifted towards giving the actress a final farewell and celebrating her life and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Her death at 40 marked the loss of an actress who had continued to pursue her career after publicly documenting her battle with breast cancer and announcing her return to acting.

On Thursday, September 10, her remains will leave OSUTH Sagamu at 9am before the burial service at Akesan Club. The interment will follow immediately at Iperu Remo Cemetery, where family, friends, colleagues and other mourners are expected to gather to bid the actress farewell.

The family has also requested that mourners wear white as Osoba is finally laid to rest in her hometown of Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
