Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has received a brand-new phone from businessman Obi Cubana after the actress was recently mocked over the device she had been using.
The gesture came after attention was drawn to Rita’s old phone, with some people making fun of the device and questioning why she was still using it despite being a well-known actress.
Rather than allowing the situation to linger, Obi Cubana stepped in with a generous surprise for the actress.
The businessman reportedly bought Rita a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, a high-end smartphone said to be worth about N3 million.
For Rita, the gift was more than just getting a new phone. It also turned an uncomfortable situation into a light-hearted moment, especially after she had been subjected to jokes because of her old device.
The actress appeared to take the situation in good spirits, even responding with a playful statement that captured what had happened.
"Shey Una dey mock my phone; see am, I'm getting another one".
The comment reflected the circumstances surrounding the gift, as Rita made it clear that the phone she was being mocked for was about to be replaced.
