The mother of late Nollywood actress and influencer Nimmy Ferrari has called for help after her daughter’s father’s family reportedly objected to the plan to bury her in the house she recently completed.
The woman, who spoke emotionally about the situation, said she personally gave permission for Nimota to be buried in the house because she believes the property should remain part of her daughter’s legacy.
She explained that Nimota did not have children of her own, and for that reason, she wanted the house to remain connected to her memory rather than become a source of conflict after her death.
The mother also questioned the role Nimota’s father played in her daughter’s life, alleging that he did not contribute financially to her education or medical care.
“Nigerians, save me from Nimota’s father’s family. They said Nimota should not be buried in her house. I had five children for their family, and it’s just Nimota left. Same Nimota, they have k!|l£d her.
“When she was at the hospital, I did not see anyone to drop a dime. Baba Nimota did not drop a dime, he did not send her to school. I sent her to school till she finished university. Her father did not pay her school fees. The stitches on my head, Baba Nimota did it, and it’s because of a school fees disagreement.
“They called me this evening because I’m the one that gave them permission to bury Nimota in her house. She does not have children, so her legacy will not be lost. That’s why I instructed them to bury her there.
“I have my own house; there is nothing I want to use Nimota’s house for. Help me, they want to sell the house off. He did not spend a dime on her. They want to sell her house..”
Her comments have now brought attention to the disagreement surrounding Nimota’s burial and the ownership or future of the property she left behind.
The mother stressed that she does not need Nimota’s house for herself, pointing out that she already has her own home. Her concern, she said, is what happens to the property after her daughter’s burial and whether it will be preserved as part of Nimota’s legacy.
She also recalled the difficult relationship she had with Nimota’s father, particularly over issues concerning their daughter’s education. According to her account, she took responsibility for Nimota’s schooling and supported her through university.
Her account further touched on Nimota’s final days, with the mother alleging that she struggled to get financial assistance from her daughter’s paternal family while Nimota was receiving treatment at the hospital.
For now, the major points of contention remain Nimota’s burial in her completed house and what will eventually happen to the property. The mother has made it clear that she wants the house preserved and has appealed to Nigerians to intervene.
Rather than claiming the property for herself, she said she simply wants her daughter’s name and legacy to remain attached to the home she worked to complete.
