NFL star Aaron Rodgers has opened up about his failed engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, claiming that the actress told him she wanted to be with another man just days after accepting his marriage proposal.
Rodgers made the revelation during an appearance on Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast on Thursday, September 10, while discussing his past relationship with the actress and addressing accounts surrounding their eventual split.

“I dated Shailene, I proposed and she said yes. She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision; she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she told me, before we got married, like, ‘I got to go fuck this guy,’” he said.
Rodgers said the situation marked a major turning point in their relationship. He claimed Woodley removed her engagement ring by March and that the pair subsequently attempted to reconcile several times despite the problems that had emerged between them.
The football star also pushed back against claims that he was responsible for Woodley experiencing depression after their relationship ended.
“Because her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but in actuality she told me that and took off the ring by March,” Rodgers said.
His comments appear to be aimed at challenging what he described as an inaccurate version of the events surrounding their breakup. Rodgers said he had decided to speak about the relationship because he believed certain narratives had been allowed to spread without his side of the story being heard.
“There’s just a lot of narratives out there that are just not true, and they portray things a certain way because they can get away with it,” he said.
