Movie Review: A Fight Called Love

A Fight Called Love tells the story of Amara and her brother, Buchi, two orphans whose lives take a painful turn after they are taken in by their aunt, Ingazi, and her husband, Chief Obiquay.

Unknown to the siblings, they are the children of Ingazi’s late older brother and are the rightful heirs to their father’s vast estate, properties and business interests. However, Ingazi has a hidden agenda. She takes the children in with the intention of controlling their inheritance and securing a better future for her own daughter, Chinaza.

Amara and Buchi are treated harshly in their aunt’s home, with Ingazi constantly humiliating them and making their lives difficult. 

She even sabotages Amara’s chances of gaining admission to university while attempting to push Chinaza into a relationship with Chike, the wealthy son of Chief Madu.

Things change when Chike meets Amara and is immediately drawn to her kind and gentle personality. Despite Ingazi’s efforts to keep them apart and her determination to make Chike choose Chinaza, he continues to pursue Amara after discovering the difficult conditions she faces at home.

As the relationship grows, Ingazi becomes increasingly desperate. Her attempts to destroy Amara and Chike’s relationship become more extreme, including arranging for Buchi to be falsely arrested and imprisoned.

Chief Obiquay eventually reaches his breaking point after witnessing the extent of his wife’s cruelty. He decides to protect Amara and Buchi, taking them away from the toxic household and bringing them to Chike’s family home.

However, Ingazi refuses to give up. During a staged reconciliation visit, she and Chinaza attempt to poison Buchi. Their plan is eventually uncovered, and Buchi survives the attack.

The final revelation comes when Chief Obiquay produces copies of the original will, exposing Ingazi’s deception and the theft of the children’s inheritance.

Ingazi and Chinaza are arrested for attempted murder and fraud, while Amara and Buchi finally regain control of their family legacy. Amara also finds happiness with Chike, and together they establish a foundation dedicated to helping vulnerable children.

After years of suffering, Amara and Buchi are finally given the opportunity to turn their painful past into a new beginning.
