Yoruba Nollywood is set to unveil another intriguing production as the highly anticipated movie, Laisi Alujonnu, arrives on YouTube this Friday, September 18, 2026.
The film, which promises a dark and frightening story built around a mysterious curse, will be available for free on the Aye TV YouTube Channel, giving audiences an opportunity to watch the production online without a subscription fee.
Written, produced and directed by filmmaker Sharafadeen Olabode, Laisi Alujonnu explores a disturbing transformation that turns an ordinary man into a terrifying and vengeful being.
At the centre of the story is Laisi, a seemingly normal man whose life takes a horrifying turn after he commits an unimaginable act involving a newborn baby.
The incident sets off a supernatural transformation, with Laisi becoming an unusual entity that combines the physical and emotional characteristics of both a man and a woman.
The unusual nature of the character forms a major part of the film’s identity, with its tagline, “Apá kan ako, apá kan abo,” highlighting the duality of Laisi’s existence.
The character is portrayed as a tragic but brutal creature whose two sides represent contrasting emotions. One side carries the grief and emotional pain associated with a woman, while the other embodies the anger and merciless rage associated with a man.
Through the central character, the movie appears to explore themes of vengeance, pain, consequences and the destructive effects of an act that crosses moral and supernatural boundaries.
The transformation of Laisi also creates the foundation for a story that blends traditional Yoruba storytelling with elements of horror, mystery and supernatural drama.
With its unusual central character and dark storyline, the movie is expected to offer viewers a different experience from conventional Yoruba dramas.
Olabode’s involvement in the writing, production and direction of the project also places creative responsibility for the film largely in his hands, from the development of its storyline to its visual presentation.
The filmmaker has assembled a cast featuring several familiar faces from the Nigerian film industry.
Among those starring in the movie are Sanusi Ishiaq, popularly known as Apa, Yetunde Barnabas, Ayo Olaiya, Kola Ajeyemi, Folakemi Babatunde and Adebayo Adeniyi.
The combination of established Yoruba actors and the film’s supernatural storyline adds to the anticipation surrounding its release.
Sanusi Ishiaq is expected to take on a significant role in the production, while the presence of actors such as Yetunde Barnabas, Ayo Olaiya and Kola Ajeyemi further strengthens the ensemble.
The decision to release Laisi Alujonnu on YouTube also reflects the growing importance of digital platforms in the distribution of Yoruba-language movies.
Rather than relying solely on traditional cinema releases or physical distribution, filmmakers are increasingly taking their productions directly to online audiences, allowing viewers in Nigeria and abroad to access new films from their phones, computers and other devices.
For fans of Yoruba Nollywood productions, the upcoming release offers another opportunity to experience a story driven by folklore-inspired themes, supernatural elements and intense human emotions.
As the September 18 premiere approaches, attention will be focused on how Laisi’s transformation unfolds and the consequences of the act that sets the terrifying events in motion.
Laisi Alujonnu is scheduled to premiere for free on the Aye TV YouTube Channel on Friday, September 18, 2026.
