Ibrahim Yekini, better known to fans across Nigeria and beyond as Itele d'Icon, has every reason to celebrate right now.
His movie franchise Koleoso has officially crossed into record territory, amassing a combined 141.6 million views on YouTube across all 13 installments, a milestone that now makes it the most-watched African movie title ever on the platform.
The actor and filmmaker broke the news himself in a statement released on Tuesday, taking a moment to acknowledge just how significant the achievement is not just for him personally, but for Nollywood as a whole. He described the feat as history-making, noting that the numbers continue to climb even as he made the announcement.
A breakdown of the figures shows just how consistently each part of the series has performed. Part 1 pulled in 9.8 million views, followed closely by Part 2 with 9.9 million and Part 3 with 8.9 million.
The momentum picked up from there, with Part 4 hitting 10 million and Part 5 matching that number exactly. Parts 6 through 8 each brought in 12 million views apiece, while Part 9 climbed to 13 million. The series peaked with Part 10, which alone racked up an impressive 16 million views.
The final stretch saw Part 11 land at 9.9 million, Part 12 at 9.4 million, and Part 13 closing out the run with 8.7 million.
In his statement, Yekini didn't hold back on expressing pride in what the milestone represents. He framed it as more than just a personal win, calling it a moment of pride for the entire continent and crediting the loyal community of viewers he refers to as the "Koleoso family" for sustaining the series' momentum through consistent viewing, sharing, and support.
He was also quick to extend appreciation to everyone who worked behind the scenes, insisting that the cast and crew who contributed their time and talent deserve equal credit for the historic run.
According to him, the achievement wasn't something he pulled off alone but rather the product of a shared vision that started as an idea and grew into something audiences embraced wholeheartedly.
