Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has given fans a glimpse into how tough recent times have been for her, opening up in an emotional moment about needing all the support she can get to stay afloat.
The actress explained that her YouTube channel has been dealing with persistent technical problems, something that has clearly weighed heavily on her.
She admitted that she had cried away from the public eye multiple times, having made a personal vow to herself never to break down in front of others, but confessed that keeping up that front has become increasingly difficult given everything she has been dealing with behind the scenes.
In a message shared afterward, Toriola described the period as one where she has leaned more on faith and emotional support than ever before in her life.
She wrote about running purely on belief and good vibes, using a lighthearted comparison to a phone update to describe how mentally and emotionally drained she has felt, joking that if she reverts to her old self once the storm passes, she doesn't want anyone bringing up a fresh update, since her system has already endured more than enough strain.
This isn't the first time the actress has questioned her own state of mind recently. In an earlier post, she had wondered aloud why she constantly felt low and disconnected whenever she was around people she didn't know well, even raising the possibility, half seriously, that she may have picked up some form of spiritual affliction without realizing it.
Beyond her personal struggles, Toriola also used the moment to address the wider difficulties facing people in her profession. She spoke about how filmmakers are forced to create under harsh economic conditions, where tight budgets often threaten to compromise their creative vision.
Despite these obstacles, she insisted that industry professionals like herself continue pushing forward and refuse to let financial constraints dictate the quality or authenticity of their storytelling.
The actress didn't hold back either when addressing newer entrants into the industry, criticizing a trend she has noticed among some upcoming actors who demand high fees despite showing little interest in developing their craft.
She suggested that many of these young talents contribute to a growing culture of mediocrity, since they enter the industry chasing money rather than genuine artistic growth.
In a separate post that appeared to be aimed at an unnamed rival, Toriola made it clear that her focus isn't on competing with anyone, stressing instead that her ambition is simply to maintain her position among the very best in the business.
She also touched on how she generally handles external opinions, revealing that she prefers to move at her own pace without letting outside noise, hype, or public commentary influence her decisions.
According to the mother of one, she remains firmly committed to walking her own path, regardless of how others perceive her choices or her journey in the industry.
