Charly Boy has spoken passionately about the kind of Nigeria he hopes to see, calling for a country where human lives are treated with value and leadership is measured by service to the people.
The veteran entertainer and activist expressed frustration over the difficulties facing ordinary Nigerians, particularly the challenges around healthcare, insecurity, poor governance and the growing decision among young people to leave the country in search of better opportunities.
For Charly Boy, the idea of a better Nigeria should go beyond political speeches and promises. He wants a country where citizens can feel safe, families can live without constant fear and people do not have to struggle simply to access basic necessities.
He said:
“I want my country back. I want a New Nigeria where human life no be statistics. Where mothers no get to pray before dem enter hospital, wondering if they can afford to stay alive.
“I want a Nigeria where government no dey make decisions wey turn ordinary people into casualties. Where citizens no dey run from the people wey suppose protect them.
“I want a Nigeria where families no dey wake up to empty chairs at the dining table. Where young people no go jarkpa from motherland becos of greener pastures a life worth living.
“I want a country where leadership means service, not opression, not mediocrity. Biko, I want my country back. Not the Nigeria wey politicians describe from podiums.
“The Nigeria wey live inside our dreams. The Nigeria wey our parents believed in. The Nigeria wey our children deserve. I still want to love my country. But give me a country worthy of that love. I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK.”
His statement reflects a wider concern about the gap between the Nigeria many citizens hope for and the reality they experience in their daily lives.
Healthcare remains a major concern for many families, while insecurity has continued to affect communities and create uncertainty for people trying to go about their normal lives. At the same time, many young Nigerians continue to look outside the country for education, employment and a more stable future.
Charly Boy's message is therefore not simply about wanting political change. It is also about wanting a country where people can have confidence in its institutions and believe that their lives and wellbeing matter.
He also questioned a system where leadership can become associated with power and privilege rather than responsibility. In his view, those entrusted with public office should be focused on making life better for the people they represent.
The Nigeria he described is one where parents do not have to constantly worry about the safety and future of their children, and where young people can pursue their ambitions without feeling that leaving the country is their only realistic option.
His appeal is ultimately centred on dignity, security, responsible leadership and hope. He wants Nigerians to be able to look at their country and see more than political promises he wants them to see a place where they can build their lives and raise their families.
