Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka is bringing his popular Laffmattazz comedy tour back to his home city of Abeokuta for a special Independence Day celebration this October.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement on Tuesday, Adeyinka revealed that the show, dubbed the Independence Edition, will take place at the OOPL Marquee in Ogun State's capital on Thursday, October 1, with proceedings kicking off from 3pm.
For the comedian, the return to Abeokuta carries deep personal significance, coming right after wrapping up the Canadian leg of his ongoing tour.
In his announcement, he described the occasion as more than just another performance, framing it instead as a heartfelt homecoming built around celebrating six decades of unity, pride and laughter through a blend of comedy, music, and dance.
Adeyinka also looked back fondly on his recent travels abroad, referencing stops in Calgary, London, and Toronto before highlighting how meaningful it felt to bring the tour full circle back to Nigerian soil.
This Abeokuta date forms part of the broader 2026 edition of Laffmattazz, which carries the theme "The Next Chapter" and kicked off in Ibadan back in April before later making a stop in Akure in June.
Notably, this year's run marked the first time the tour expanded to include Canadian cities alongside its usual Nigerian stops in places like Abeokuta and Lagos.
The comedy franchise, which Adeyinka founded, has built a reputation for touring extensively across southwestern Nigeria and beyond, having previously staged UK dates in 2025 across cities such as Manchester and Nottingham, in addition to a Unity Tour in 2023 that covered several southwestern states before its Lagos finale.
