Fireboy DML Reveals Why His Mum Was Crying Over His Cigarette Scen

Fireboy DML once found himself having to calm down his family after a cigarette appeared in one of his Instagram Stories.

What looked like a regular behind-the-scenes moment quickly became a serious concern for his family. The singer had been holding a cigarette in his mouth for a snippet, but his relatives did not immediately take it as part of the image he was putting together.

Instead, they became worried about him, and things got particularly emotional in the family WhatsApp group. Fireboy recalled that his mother was so concerned that she started crying, leaving him with no choice but to explain what was actually going on.

“I posted a snippet on my Instagram Story while holding a cigarette in my mouth, and my whole family started crashing out in the WhatsApp group. My mom was crying, and I had to explain to them that it was just showbiz. I later smoked it sha, I can’t lie.”

For Fireboy, the cigarette was initially meant to be part of the overall look and presentation. From his family’s point of view, however, there was nothing entertaining about seeing him with one in his mouth.

He had to make it clear that they were looking at a showbiz moment rather than a sudden lifestyle change. His explanation eventually helped put his family at ease, especially his mother, who had understandably taken what she saw seriously.

There was, however, one funny twist to the whole situation. Although Fireboy had initially used the cigarette as part of the scene, he admitted that he did end up smoking it afterwards.

That meant the cigarette was not entirely just for appearance after all.

The singer’s story captures one of those moments where something that seems completely normal in the entertainment world can look very different to family members watching from the outside. For his family, especially his mum, seeing him with a cigarette was enough to cause genuine worry before he could explain the situation.

And while the original intention may have been simply to create a particular showbiz image, Fireboy’s own admission made the story even more interesting: he eventually smoked the cigarette, and as he put it, he could not lie about that part.
