Enioluwa Adeoluwa, the popular Nigerian social media influencer and actor, has launched a new essay competition for secondary school students in Ekiti State, offering a combined prize pool of three million naira to encourage reading and writing among young Nigerians.
The scheme, named the Professor Femi Adeoluwa Essay Prize, was formally inaugurated this week, with Enioluwa sharing highlights from the launch event on his Instagram page on Thursday.
In his post, he confirmed the reward structure for the competition, revealing that the top student would receive one point five million naira, the runner-up would take home one million naira, while the third-place finisher would get five hundred thousand naira.
Speaking through his platform Eni's Book Club, Enioluwa explained that the initiative is part of a broader effort to make reading appealing to young people, motivate them academically, and reduce the rate at which students drop out of school.
He described the project as a continuation of his commitment to youth literacy and education across Nigeria.
Although the prize was only inaugurated recently, the essay contest itself was actually opened to students back in May 2026. Organizers invited entries from pupils attending public secondary schools throughout Ekiti State, giving many students who might not otherwise have access to such opportunities a chance to compete.
The essay topic set for contestants was thought-provoking: participants were asked to address the question of what young people should be taught that conventional schooling tends to overlook, framed under the theme of education beyond the four walls of a classroom.
Now that the competition has concluded, the three top-performing students are set to divide the three-million-naira prize fund among themselves according to their rankings.
Beyond the financial reward, organizers say the broader goal of the essay prize is to nurture a culture of reading, sharpen writing skills, and build critical thinking abilities among secondary school students, particularly those in the public school system who often have fewer enrichment opportunities than their privately educated peers.
Enioluwa, whose full name is Enioluwa Prince Adeoluwa, has built a substantial public profile in Nigeria not just as an influencer but also as an actor and television personality.
Over the years, he has used his visibility to champion causes beyond entertainment, with youth literacy standing out as one of his most consistent advocacy areas. Eni's Book Club, the platform behind this essay prize, was established specifically to get more young Nigerians reading and engaging with books.
With this latest initiative, Enioluwa adds to a growing list of public figures using their influence to support educational access in underserved communities, particularly in areas like Ekiti State where such targeted investment in student development can make a meaningful difference in learning outcomes and school retention rates.
