Sean “Diddy” Combs is reportedly set to leave prison earlier than previously expected after his projected release date was moved forward again.
The American rapper and music executive is now expected to be released on February 5, 2028, following another adjustment to his prison sentence.
According to TMZ and records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, roughly two weeks have reportedly been taken off Combs’ sentence, marking another change to the date he is expected to complete his time behind bars.
The latest development comes after the music mogul’s original release date was reportedly scheduled for April 2028. His projected date has since been adjusted several times, bringing his expected return to freedom closer.
Diddy Sentenced To 50 Months
Combs was sentenced in 2025 to 50 months in federal prison after being found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.
Although the case involved several serious allegations, the charges on which he was convicted were the two transportation-related counts. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
Following his sentencing, Combs began serving his prison term, with his projected release date becoming a subject of considerable public interest.
The latest adjustment means he is now expected to complete his sentence and leave prison on February 5, 2028.
Release Date Has Changed Several Times
Combs’ projected release date has not remained fixed since he began serving his sentence.
His initial release was reportedly expected in April 2028, but subsequent adjustments have gradually brought the date forward. The latest reduction removes another two weeks from the remaining period.
With the new projection, the music executive is believed to have around 16 months left to serve.
However, the February 5, 2028 date should be viewed as a projected release date rather than an absolute guarantee. Prison release dates can change based on factors such as sentence calculations, credits and other considerations.
There is also the possibility that Combs could leave prison earlier if he continues to meet the requirements for sentence reductions, although there is no assurance that his release date will be adjusted again.
King Combs Continues To Support Father
While Combs remains behind bars, members of his family have continued to publicly express support for him.
His son, King Combs, recently spoke about his father and called for his release, adding his voice to those who have continued to stand behind the music executive during his legal troubles.
The public support from his family comes as Combs remains one of the most discussed figures in the entertainment industry.
For decades, he has been a major force in hip-hop, building a career that extended beyond performing into music production, record-label management, fashion and business.
His influence in the music industry has made his legal case particularly significant, with developments surrounding his imprisonment continuing to attract widespread attention.
Uncertain Future After Prison
Combs’ eventual release is expected to generate considerable interest, particularly because of his status within the entertainment industry and the controversies that have surrounded his legal battles.
Before his imprisonment, he was one of the most recognisable figures in American music, known for his work as a rapper and producer and for his role in shaping the careers of several major artists.
Whether he will return to music and entertainment in the same capacity after his release remains unclear.
His legal troubles have already had a major impact on his public image, while the allegations and court proceedings have remained a significant topic within the hip-hop community.
For now, Combs is expected to remain in federal custody until February 5, 2028, based on the latest projected date reported by TMZ and reflected in Federal Bureau of Prisons records.
If the date remains unchanged, his release would mark the beginning of a new chapter for the music mogul, whose career and personal life have undergone significant changes since his legal troubles intensified.
His eventual return to public life is likely to attract attention from supporters, critics and the wider entertainment industry as questions remain over what the future holds for one of hip-hop’s most prominent executives.
