Peller has found himself weighing up a request from rapper CDQ, who wants him to put his energy behind a new song and help push it towards the number one spot in Nigeria.

The request, however, appears to put Peller in a difficult position because he already has another song to promote. Rather than simply agreeing to dedicate his time to CDQ’s record, Peller pointed out that doing so would mean taking attention away from IceKing’s song.

For Peller, the issue is not just about promoting another artist’s music. His own commitments also come into play, and he wants to know what happens to the projects he is already working on if he gives CDQ’s song all the attention being requested.

He made the point directly, asking CDQ what he would be getting in return for putting that much time and effort into the promotion.

“CDQ mentioned me in his new song and he’s asking me to promote it till it hits #1 in Nigeria, if I dedicate my time for your song, where will I put IceKing song? Can you buy me ₦400m house like Ochacho? Can you gift me £20k like Ochacho?”.

Peller’s question also brought up the kind of financial support he has seen other people receive. By mentioning Ochacho and the gifts associated with him, he drew a clear comparison between simply being asked to promote a song and receiving substantial compensation for putting in serious work.

The situation highlights the business side of music promotion, where artists, creators and influencers often have to decide how much time and attention they can give to another person’s project while still pushing their own work.

For Peller, promoting CDQ’s song would not just mean posting about it once or twice. CDQ’s request, as Peller described it, involves staying committed until the song reaches number one in Nigeria. That is a much bigger responsibility, particularly when Peller already has IceKing’s song to promote.

His response therefore centres on a simple question: if he is expected to make CDQ’s song a major priority, what happens to the music he is already representing?.

Rather than leaving the issue unclear, Peller put the question straight to CDQ and pointed to the level of reward he would expect for such a major commitment.

The exchange shows that behind music promotion, there can also be conversations about time, priorities and compensation. For someone like Peller, who has his own projects to push, taking on another artist’s campaign means finding a balance between helping someone else’s record and keeping his own work in the picture.
