Blessing CEO Loses Son To Asthma Att@ck While In Custody

Nkiru Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, is facing a painful family loss while still being held in custody.

The relationship therapist has reportedly lost her son following an asthma att.ack, leaving her family dealing with the tragedy at a time when she is yet to regain her freedom.

The development was disclosed by Isamira Agiye, who has been involved in efforts to have Blessing released from detention.

According to Agiye, Blessing has already been granted bail but remains in custody because the conditions attached to the bail have not yet been fulfilled.

The situation has become even more painful for the family, as Blessing may have to deal with the death of her son while separated from her loved ones.

Agiye said the family is hoping Blessing will be able to leave custody in time to see her son and have the opportunity to say a final goodbye before the burial.

For a mother, losing a child is difficult enough under normal circumstances. Having to receive such news while being unable to immediately return home and be with family makes the situation even more heartbreaking.

Blessing’s case has therefore taken on a deeply personal dimension beyond the legal circumstances surrounding her detention. While the details of her case remain separate from the family tragedy, her supporters are focused on the possibility of her being able to mourn her son with the rest of her family.

Agiye appealed to people who may have their own opinions about Blessing to put those differences aside at this difficult moment.

She urged Nigerians to remember that, regardless of how they may feel about Blessing or the issues surrounding her detention, she is still a mother who has lost her child.

“Please, let us put aside our personal opinions about Blessing and show compassion. She is a grieving mother and she deserves the chance to see her son and bid him farewell before his burial", she said. 

The immediate concern for the family is now ensuring that Blessing can be with her loved ones during the mourning period and, if possible, attend her son’s final rites.

The loss comes at an especially difficult time for Blessing, who remains separated from her family while dealing with the devastating news.

For now, her family and those close to her are hoping that the circumstances surrounding her detention will not prevent her from having the chance to mourn her son in person and say goodbye before he is laid to rest.
