Pastor Dolapo Lawal has recalled a rather unusual encounter he had with an Arsenal fan during the period when the club was celebrating its league success.
According to the pastor, the situation started when the fan sent him a message and began directing insults at him. Things reARESEportedly went beyond the usual football banter, as the man also brought Pastor Dolapo’s children into it.
Instead of trading insults with him or getting into a heated argument, Pastor Dolapo decided to take a completely different approach.
He asked the man to send his account number.
The man apparently did exactly that.
Pastor Dolapo then sent money to him, turning what had started as an angry exchange into something the fan seemingly did not expect.
The story did not end there. The Arsenal supporter later recorded a video, tagged Pastor Dolapo and spoke about the encounter in a completely different tone.
Recalling the incident, Pastor Dolapo said:
“When arsenal won the league last time, One guy came into my DM and started cur.sing me, cur.sing my children.
“It was that Arsenal time, and I asked him to send his account number and he sent it. I sent him money. He did a video and tagged me and said, ‘Pastor Dolapo is a man of God 😆."
The incident, as Pastor Dolapo described it, shows how quickly a conversation that starts with anger can take an unexpected turn.
The man had initially approached him with harsh words and even dragged his children into the exchange. But after Pastor Dolapo sent money to him, the same person returned with a video and a very different message.
Rather than continuing the confrontation, the pastor chose to respond by helping him financially. That decision appears to have caught the fan off guard and changed the direction of their interaction.
Football rivalry can sometimes make conversations between supporters intense, especially when emotions are high after a major result or title win. But in this particular case, Pastor Dolapo said he decided not to allow the situation to become a bigger fight.
His account of the encounter also highlights the unexpected ways people can react when confronted with kindness after behaving aggressively.
What began in his DM as an Arsenal-related exchange involving insults and curses eventually ended with the fan publicly referring to him as “a man of God.”
For Pastor Dolapo, it was simply one of those strange encounters that can happen when football passion spills over into personal conversations.
And judging from the way he tells the story, the biggest surprise was probably how quickly the Arsenal fan went from cursing him and his children to recording a video praising him after receiving the money.
