'Wike Fear Abuja Cows More Than Human Beings' – Isaac Fayose Blasts FCT Minister, Wike

Isaac Fayose has criticized the explanation given by FCT Minister, , over the continued presence of cows roaming the streets of Abuja.

 

The issue came up during Wike's recent media chat, where he was asked why cattle are still seen moving freely in parts of the Federal Capital Territory despite efforts to improve the city. In his response, the minister admitted that the situation still exists but explained that it is not something that can be resolved overnight. According to him, the matter involves national security, consultations with stakeholders and other government agencies, making it more complicated than simply ordering the animals off the streets.

 

While Wike maintained that work is ongoing to find a lasting solution, his explanation did not sit well with Fayose.

 

Reacting afterward, Fayose said he was surprised that the minister, who answered several other questions during the media chat, appeared unable to give a direct solution to the issue of cows roaming Abuja.

 

In his words:

 

 

“Wike answered all the questions at his media chat yesterday but when they asked him about the cows roaming on the street of Abuja, he said for some reasons, he can’t stop the cows. Wike fear Abuja cows than human beings, government wey Dey fear cows, but they’re quick to disrespect human beings.”

 

Fayose's criticism centered on what he believes is the government's inability to deal decisively with the issue. He argued that if authorities can enforce policies affecting residents, they should also be able to address cattle roaming freely in the nation's capital.

 

Wike, however, had earlier acknowledged that the presence of cows on Abuja roads remains a concern. He apologized that the problem has not been fully resolved and explained that discussions are continuing with security agencies, the Ministry of Livestock Development and relevant stakeholders to arrive at a solution that will not create wider security challenges.

 

His remarks suggest that the government sees the issue as one that requires careful handling rather than immediate enforcement alone.

 

Even so, Fayose remains unconvinced. His comments reflect his belief that the continued sight of cows on Abuja roads raises questions about enforcement and governance, especially in a city expected to reflect the country's standards as the nation's capital.
