Celebrity fashion entrepreneur Toyin Lawani has weighed in on the ongoing dispute involving former Psquare members Peter and Paul Okoye, criticising their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, over comments she described as divisive.
Lawani expressed disappointment after watching a video in which Jude allegedly compared the careers of his younger brothers by suggesting that one was progressing while the other was declining.
Reacting through a post on her Instagram page, the celebrity stylist questioned why a brother would publicly make such remarks about members of his own family, insisting that siblings should support rather than compare one another.
“No Brother Should Speak Like That”
Sharing the clip on her social media page, Lawani criticised Jude’s alleged statement that “Paul is going up, Peter is going down,” describing the comment as unnecessary and hurtful.
According to her, family disagreements should never result in one sibling publicly diminishing another’s achievements.
“Please which kind of brother talks like this in the first place??? Saying one is going up and one is going down,” she wrote.
She continued, “AGBAYA OSHI. Does it look like Peter is going down? I don’t even care what happened between all the siblings, but no brother should ever speak about each other this way. All this proves what @peterpsquare been saying since.”
Lawani’s comments quickly attracted attention online, with many social media users joining the conversation about the long-running Okoye family dispute.
Calls For The Brothers To Move On
The fashion entrepreneur also reflected on the years of public disagreements involving the Okoye brothers, noting that many people close to the family had deliberately avoided taking sides despite the repeated controversies.
According to her, it may now be healthier for each of the brothers to continue with their individual careers rather than remain entangled in a conflict that has repeatedly played out in public.
She pointed out that the dispute has affected not only the brothers themselves but also members of their families, including Peter Okoye’s wife, Lola Omotayo.
“Over the years friends and family have tried not to take sides in this issue,” Lawani wrote.
“Even to the point that Peter’s wife gets dragged unprovoked, yet she keeps mute. I beg to do Psquare no be by force. Let everyone go their separate ways. At times people suffer in the name of ‘we are family’.”
Her remarks echoed the views of some fans who believe the former music duo should focus on their individual careers instead of continuing public exchanges.
Peter’s Fresh Allegations
Lawani’s reaction comes amid renewed accusations by Peter Okoye against his elder brother, Jude.
In recent days, Peter has released a series of videos detailing events that allegedly contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.
Among his latest claims, the singer alleged that he was excluded from part of the proceeds generated from the Psquare music catalogue, including an alleged payment of $25,000.
Peter also claimed that he was removed as a signatory to one of the accounts used to receive the group’s music royalties, questioning how financial decisions concerning the business were made without his knowledge.
The singer has maintained that his decision to speak publicly is aimed at presenting his own side of the story after years of remaining silent.
Jude, Ify Respond
Jude Okoye has consistently denied the allegations levelled against him, insisting that all revenue generated from Psquare’s music was shared equally among the three brothers.
His wife, Ify Okoye, also recently addressed the controversy, stating that she had no intention of engaging in public accusations despite being drawn into the dispute.
In a message shared online, she said she preferred to leave the matter in God’s hands rather than fuel further conflict.
A Rift That Refuses To Fade
The Okoye family dispute has remained one of the most talked-about feuds in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Peter and Paul first parted ways as Psquare in 2017 following disagreements over management, finances and creative direction involving Jude.
Although they reunited in 2021, the reconciliation proved short-lived after Paul confirmed in 2024 that the group had split again.
Since then, fresh accusations, emotional revelations and public reactions from celebrities have continued to keep the family disagreement in the spotlight, with Toyin Lawani now becoming one of the latest public figures to openly comment on the controversy.
