Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has sparked curiosity among her fans after bringing back the surname “Aimakhu” as she teased an upcoming project.
The actress, who has been professionally known as Toyin Abraham since 2016, recently posted a brief message on social media announcing, “Toyin Aimakhu is coming.”
Although the statement was short, it immediately attracted attention because of the significance of the name she previously used in the entertainment industry.
Abraham adopted the name Toyin Abraham several years ago after deciding to change her surname from Aimakhu.
She had previously explained that the decision was influenced by her family, particularly her father’s name, Abraham Elias Aimakhu.
However, she has not provided details on why she has chosen to use Aimakhu again or whether the name has a direct connection to the project she is preparing.
The actress had earlier hinted that her fans should expect something major in December, suggesting that she has been working on a project that could be unveiled towards the end of the year. Her latest announcement has therefore increased anticipation about what she has in store.
The project follows the strong performance of her 2025 movie, Oversabi Aunty, which represented a major milestone in her filmmaking career.
Released in cinemas in December 2025, the movie reportedly surpassed the N1 billion mark in January 2026 after generating N1,017,201,953 from cinemas across West Africa.
Oversabi Aunty was particularly significant because it marked Abraham’s directorial debut on the big screen. Its commercial success made her achievement even more notable, as the movie became the first Nollywood directorial debut to cross the N1 billion mark at the box office.
By February, reports indicated that the film had exceeded N1.1 billion in earnings during its eighth week in cinemas.
Available industry records later placed its overall cinema earnings at approximately N1.17 billion, although the exact final figure has not been consistently reported by all sources.
The movie featured Abraham alongside several notable actors, including Mike Ezuruonye, Tana Adelana, Jemima Osunde, Efe Irele and Enioluwa Adeoluwa.
With the actress now reviving her former surname and promising a new project, attention is focused on what the announcement means. Whether “Toyin Aimakhu” is simply a creative identity for the new production or part of a larger concept remains unclear.
For now, Abraham has kept details of the project under wraps, leaving fans to speculate while awaiting the promised reveal later this year.
