The family of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has announced the postponement of her burial, saying the new date and venue will be communicated after further arrangements have been completed.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through Osoba’s official Instagram page, following a candlelight and artists’ night organised in her honour.

The family expressed appreciation to friends, colleagues, fans and other well-wishers who attended the event and supported them during the difficult period.

According to the family, the decision to delay the burial was necessary to enable them to complete some outstanding arrangements.

They appealed to members of the public to remain patient and continue to support the family with prayers.

The family also clarified that any information regarding the next burial date would be released through Osoba’s official channels. They urged the public to rely on those updates rather than unconfirmed reports.

The postponement comes shortly after the entertainment industry gathered to celebrate the actress and remember her contribution to Nollywood.

The candlelight and artists’ night provided an opportunity for colleagues, friends and admirers to pay tribute to the late actress.

Osoba died in August 2026 after battling breast cancer. Her health struggles had previously attracted public attention, particularly after she appealed for financial assistance towards her medical treatment.

In 2024, actress Foluke Daramola revealed that Osoba had undergone surgery following her breast cancer diagnosis.

Osoba later spoke publicly about her experience, explaining that the discovery of a lump in her breast eventually led to the diagnosis.

Despite the challenges surrounding her health, Osoba later returned to acting. In August 2025, she announced that she had completed treatment and was ready to resume her career. At the time, she described her return as the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Her death has since generated reactions across the Nigerian entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans remembering her for her work and contributions to Nollywood.

The recent candlelight gathering further reflected the impact she had on people within and outside the industry. Friends, colleagues and supporters came together to honour her memory and sympathise with her family.

With the burial now placed on hold, the family has asked for understanding as they finalise the necessary arrangements.

They have also expressed gratitude to everyone who has continued to show concern and offer support since the actress’ death.

For now, no new burial date has been announced. The family said further information would be made available once all arrangements are concluded.

Osoba’s passing has marked another painful loss for the Nigerian film industry, particularly among colleagues who knew and worked with her.

As the family prepares for the next stage of the funeral arrangements, supporters continue to remember the actress and celebrate her life and career.

The family concluded its announcement by appreciating those who attended the candlelight event and continued to stand with them during the period of mourning.
