Tolanibaj Accuses Former Employee of Selling Millions in DJ Equipment

DJ Tolanibaj has spoken publicly about an incident involving a former employee who she alleges sold expensive equipment belonging to her DJ academy.

The DJ became emotional while recounting how the situation unfolded, saying she had trusted the employee with responsibilities that included handling a significant amount of money for the purchase of equipment.

According to Tolanibaj, she employed Precious Akiyemi Deborah as an executive assistant in April. Not long after, she entrusted her with more than ₦6 million to purchase four DJ controllers for the academy.

The purchase later became a source of concern when Tolanibaj discovered that three of the controllers were no longer at the academy.

She said Precious explained that she had taken the equipment home because the controllers were faulty. Tolanibaj eventually became dissatisfied with the explanation and decided to terminate her employment.

After the dismissal, she said, staff members were sent to Precious' residence to collect the equipment. They allegedly arrived to find that neither Precious nor the missing controllers were there.

The situation took another turn when Tolanibaj said she discovered that the equipment had been sold. She also alleged that her former employee had contacted another DJ regarding the rental of similar equipment.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police. Tolanibaj said two people who allegedly purchased the controllers were arrested during the investigation.

She added that one of the missing controllers has since been recovered, while Precious remains wanted by the police.

Tolanibaj appealed to anyone who may have information about the former employee's whereabouts to pass it on to the authorities.

The incident has also led the DJ to reflect on the need for business owners to have proper systems in place, particularly when employees are trusted with large sums of money or valuable property.

For Tolanibaj, what began as a routine business arrangement became a difficult situation after equipment worth millions of naira allegedly disappeared from her academy.

She said the experience has taught her the importance of putting stronger structures and accountability measures in place when running a business.
