Kira Taiwo, daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has raised concerns over what she described as attempts by some individuals to profit from her father’s ongoing battle with stage-four cancer.

Kira became emotional during a TikTok live session on Saturday while discussing the actor’s health, the family’s efforts to secure appropriate treatment and the financial pressure they have allegedly faced since his condition became known.

According to her, some individuals have approached the family with treatment proposals involving huge sums of money, leaving them frustrated as they try to determine the best way to care for the veteran actor.

Kira Accuses Some People Of Trying To Profit

Speaking during the emotional broadcast, Kira said some people had approached the family with different offers and treatment suggestions involving significant amounts of money.

She questioned why the family was being presented with demands running into millions of naira and thousands of dollars at a time when their priority was simply to find effective treatment for their father.

“My father is a good father. Some people are even trying to make money with us in this whole situation. Fear God. This one will come and bring solution, N800k, N5m, 11,000 dollars, N18,000 dollars. Do you want to make us broke? We are not billionaires,” she said.

Kira stressed that the family was not looking to become financially dependent on anyone but was primarily interested in finding genuine medical assistance for Ogogo.

Family Struggles With Actor’s Condition

The actress’ daughter also opened up about the emotional impact of her father’s illness on members of the family.

She admitted that she was struggling personally with the situation and said she intended to check her blood pressure because of the stress she was experiencing.

“I want to check my BP, I am not okay too,” she said.

Kira also spoke about Ogogo’s close relationship with his brother, whom she affectionately calls her “big daddy”.

According to her, her uncle has been deeply affected by the actor’s condition, with the family struggling to cope with the possibility of losing someone so close to them.

Ogogo’s Brother Also Affected

Kira recalled seeing a message from a relative in their family group chat concerning Ogogo’s condition.

She said her cousin had mentioned that her “big daddy” was asking whether Taiwo would die, a question that deeply affected her.

“That was the video my big daddy saw and on the group chat, where we always have our discussion about daddy’s health, I saw my cousin wrote something like, my big daddy was asking ‘Is Taiye going to die?’” she said.

Kira described the bond between the two brothers as exceptionally strong, saying the family could not determine who loved the other more.

“My big daddy and my daddy, we are the children, we don’t even know who they love more. We don’t even know if it is we who are being or themselves. It is too much. My big daddy loves my daddy too much,” she added.

Daughter Speaks On Emotional Toll

Kira further revealed that she had withdrawn from social media because seeing photographs and videos of her father during his illness had become emotionally painful.

She said the possibility of losing her father was difficult for her to contemplate because of the close relationship they share.

“I don’t know how I will feel. I don’t even know how I will see the world again. If anything happens to my daddy… Please don’t think I am here to ask for sympathy or anything,” she said.

Kira described Ogogo as a father who always wanted the best for everyone around him.

“I am so connected to my daddy. Nothing can be okay, ever. He just want the best for everybody. He just want everybody to be okay,” she said.

Family Seeks Medical Help, Not Donations

The concerns come after Kira and her sister, Lima Taiwo, separately appealed for assistance for their father.

Lima had earlier revealed that Ogogo’s condition had deteriorated and called on medical professionals and people with access to cancer treatment to intervene.

She clarified that the family was not seeking financial donations but wanted someone capable of providing appropriate treatment to come forward.

“Please, I’m begging you. If you know somebody that knows somebody that will be willing to treat him, anything, we’re willing to try anything. We’re not here to ask for money. Nobody’s here to ask for money,” Lima said.

Kira similarly appealed to anyone who could provide cancer treatment for her father to contact the family.

Ogogo Expresses Fear Of Death

Kira also revealed that the veteran actor had expressed fear about dying, saying she had never previously seen her father experience such severe pain.

“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before,” she said.

Ogogo, 66, is one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema, with a career spanning more than four decades.

The veteran actor has featured in more than 300 films and has remained an influential figure in the Nigerian film industry.

As his family continues to seek medical intervention, Kira has urged anyone with access to credible cancer treatment to come forward and help the actor receive the care he needs.
