Veteran Nigerian filmmaker Ola Balogun has revealed his wish for his body to continue serving humanity after his death, stating that any organs suitable for transplantation should be donated to save lives while the remainder of his body should be given to medical institutions for education and research.
The 81-year-old filmmaker made the declaration in a public version of his final wishes after recently facing another health challenge.
According to him, the unexpected medical situation prompted him to document his intentions immediately, as he was unable to arrange a formal legal will at the time.
Balogun explained that he believes death should be approached with careful planning, ensuring that one's final wishes are clearly communicated. Inspired by leaders who openly prepared for the end of life, he said he wanted his body to remain useful even after his passing.
In his statement, the veteran director requested that doctors first recover any healthy organs capable of helping patients in need before transferring the rest of his body to medical schools.
