Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola took a moment to celebrate a major career milestone this weekend, marking two full decades since the release of his acclaimed Yoruba-language film, Alapadupe.

To honor the occasion, Ademola turned to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, posting a throwback poster from the original film alongside a heartfelt reflection on how deeply the project has resonated with audiences over the years and shaped his journey as an artist.

In his message, he expressed genuine gratitude for the way the film has stayed relevant in people's minds even after twenty years, noting that not a week goes by without someone bringing up the story in conversation with him.

He described the process of crafting such narratives as one that demands more than just creative skill, pointing to the spiritual weight, sense of responsibility, and personal dedication required to tell stories of that depth.

He hinted that he plans to share more insight into that creative process at a later time, while also expressing hope that he'll have the opportunity to create work of similar impact again in the future.

He closed his message by thanking fans for their continued loyalty and encouraging those who haven't seen the film to catch it on his YouTube channel, where it's currently available to stream.

Alapadupe, whose title translates to "the unquestionable God," centers on Folawe, a grieving father whose faith is tested after the devastating loss of his only daughter.

The narrative dives deep into his internal battle, chronicling the emotional and spiritual turmoil that follows such a profound tragedy.

The film's cast includes several respected names in Nollywood, among them Fathia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, and Moji Olaiya, all of whom contributed to bringing the emotionally charged story to life.

Beyond acting, Muyiwa Ademola has built a multifaceted career as a producer, screenwriter, and filmmaker, with a filmography that includes other well-regarded titles such as Ori, Ogo Osupa, Ile, Gbarada, and Jelili. Notably, his 2004 project Ori earned him industry-wide recognition, taking home the Best Indigenous Film award at the first-ever Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony held in 2005.

This latest tribute to Alapadupe underscores just how much of a lasting cultural footprint the film has left within Yoruba cinema, continuing to spark conversation and emotional connection with viewers two decades after its original release.

For Muyiwa Ademola, the anniversary serves not just as a nostalgic look back, but also as a reminder of the storytelling responsibility he's carried throughout his career, one rooted in themes of faith, loss, and resilience that continue to strike a chord with his audience today.
