Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afod has appealed to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of veteran actor Opebe, who is currently battling a worsening health condition.
Afod made the appeal on Friday after visiting the actor at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he expressed concern over his deteriorating condition.
The filmmaker shared a video from the visit on Instagram, using the platform to call attention to Opebe’s situation and seek assistance for his medical needs.
According to Afod, the veteran actor is in need of support to access appropriate medical care as his health continues to decline.
Kunle Afod Appeals For Assistance
Speaking in the video, Afod urged Nigerians, fans of the actor and other well-meaning individuals to offer whatever assistance they could.
He described Opebe as one of the elders in the Nigerian entertainment industry and expressed concern about his current condition.
“Our fans, we have come again this time around for one of our elders in the industry, Baba Opebe.
“He’s not feeling healthy. His health is diminishing, depreciating, I don’t know the English that I can use to describe his situation right now as you all can see him,” Afod said.
The filmmaker further appealed to anyone who knows where the actor could receive appropriate medical attention or who could provide financial or other forms of assistance to step forward.
“Please if you know where we can take him to or any support you can give to him please let’s help him. Nigerians, we want your support, we want your help. Please come to his aid,” he added.
Opebe Reveals Health Struggles
Speaking about his condition, Opebe revealed that his health problems had forced him to take a break from acting.
The veteran actor said he had undergone several medical examinations at different hospitals but had yet to receive a definite diagnosis explaining the cause of his condition.
“I have been away from the screen because of my health. I have done a series of tests but nothing was found. They only told me that I’m short of blood and I was given four pints of blood,” he said.
His account highlights the uncertainty he has faced while seeking medical assistance, particularly as his condition continues to worsen.
Actor Has Battled Condition Since Last Year
Opebe disclosed that his health challenges began last year and that he had visited several hospitals in an attempt to find answers.
Despite undergoing different tests, he said doctors had not identified a specific illness responsible for his condition.
“I have been on it since last year. We have been to different hospitals. I was not diagnosed with any illness but it’s now getting worse,” he added.
The actor’s inability to get a clear diagnosis has made his situation particularly concerning, as he continues to experience worsening health problems.
Afod Calls For Help
Afod’s appeal has drawn attention to the veteran actor’s circumstances and the difficulties faced by some ageing entertainers who require medical assistance.
