Filmmaker and actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed details of her next cinematic project, unveiling Ms. Bomboki as her upcoming film slated for a 2027 theatrical release across Nigerian cinemas.

The announcement came via Instagram on Wednesday, where Ojo shared the official movie poster alongside a cryptic yet compelling caption that hinted at the emotional depth audiences should expect from the project.

Her words, "Anticipate... Ms. Bomboki. My truth. All the friction. Coming to cinemas 2027," suggest a deeply personal undertone to the upcoming production, though she has yet to reveal further specifics about the storyline.

This latest venture continues Ojo's growing momentum within Nollywood's film industry, building on the success of her recent projects, including her directorial debut The Return of Arinzo and the box-office hit Labake Olododo.

The Return of Arinzo, released in cinemas on April 3, 2026, marked a significant milestone in Ojo's career as it represented her first outing as a director.

The film, which she also produced, brought together an impressive lineup of Nollywood talent, featuring Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Uzor Arukwe, Yinka Quadri, Priscilla Ojo, and Enioluwa Adeoluwa

Commercially, the film performed strongly, pulling in N104.8 million during its opening weekend before eventually surpassing N351 million in combined earnings across Nigeria and West Africa, according to figures Ojo shared publicly.

Prior to that, she had also produced Labake Olododo, a Yoruba-language film directed by Biodun Stephen that premiered at IMAX Cinemas in Lekki in March 2025.

That production featured a star-studded cast including Muyiwa Ademola, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Odunlade Adekola, Scarlet Gomez, Broda Shaggi, and Fathia Balogun, and reportedly grossed over N200 million at the box office, further cementing Ojo's growing reputation as a bankable producer within the industry.

With Ms. Bomboki, Ojo appears poised to add another chapter to what has become an increasingly prolific run of film projects, though details regarding the movie's plot, confirmed cast members, director, and precise release date remain undisclosed at this time.

The teaser campaign, built around emotionally charged language rather than concrete plot details, mirrors a marketing approach increasingly common among Nollywood producers seeking to build anticipation well ahead of a film's actual release window.

Given the box-office performance of her previous two projects, expectations are likely to run high for Ms. Bomboki, particularly as Ojo continues to expand her footprint both in front of and behind the camera.

Her transition from actress to producer and now director has positioned her as one of the more versatile and commercially successful figures currently shaping Nigeria's film landscape, and industry watchers will likely be paying close attention as more details about the 2027 release gradually emerge in the months ahead.
