Timini Egbuson has opened up about a period in his life when he struggled with the pressure of maintaining a luxurious public image, admitting that he once borrowed money simply to keep up appearances.

The Nollywood star made the revelation during a recent interview, where he reflected on how his priorities have changed over the years. 

According to the actor, there was a time when he believed expensive fashion items, luxury accessories and an extravagant lifestyle were essential to his image. Looking back now, he says he has come to realise that genuine happiness and financial stability are far more valuable than material possessions.

Egbuson explained that social pressure often influenced many of his spending decisions. He acknowledged that the desire to impress others pushed him into unnecessary expenses, leading him to make financial choices he would not repeat today.

One of the biggest examples he shared involved his passion for collecting perfumes. The actor revealed that he once owned an extensive collection of fragrances, but he now believes the money spent on those luxury items could have been invested in assets with long-term value, such as real estate.

Rather than discouraging people from enjoying the rewards of their hard work, Egbuson encouraged individuals to examine their motives before making expensive purchases. 

He stressed that there is nothing wrong with buying luxury items, provided they are purchased for personal satisfaction and not because of societal expectations or online validation.

The movie star also spoke about experiencing difficult financial periods despite maintaining a positive attitude. He said those moments taught him that self-worth should never be tied to wealth or outward appearances. 

According to him, remaining confident and optimistic through life's ups and downs is more important than pretending everything is perfect.

Reflecting on his past, Egbuson admitted he once lived beyond his means and even relied on borrowed funds to sustain an image that did not reflect his true financial situation. 

However, he says those experiences became valuable lessons that reshaped his outlook on money, success and personal fulfilment.

His remarks have resonated with many fans, especially at a time when social media continues to fuel the desire for extravagant lifestyles. By sharing his personal journey, the actor hopes to encourage young people to prioritise financial responsibility, invest wisely and resist the temptation to measure success solely by luxury possessions.
