Rockstar Games has given fans a deeper look at the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI with the release of a 26-minute gameplay presentation showcasing some of the game’s biggest features and technical improvements.
Titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the official footage is now available on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel after initially debuting on Netflix.
The presentation features raw, unscripted gameplay captured directly on PlayStation 5, offering players a closer look at the fictional state of Leonida and its vibrant city of Vice City.
The game is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
More Realistic Car Theft
One of the features highlighted in the extended gameplay is an upgraded vehicle theft system.
Unlike previous instalments, stealing certain vehicles will require more than simply approaching a car and pulling the driver out.
High-value vehicles can require specialised equipment, including tools such as a slim jim or key cloner, depending on the circumstances.
The gameplay footage also shows non-playable characters reacting more realistically when players attempt to steal their vehicles.
Rather than simply abandoning their cars, some NPCs can physically fight back and attempt to stop the theft.
The changes are designed to make vehicle-related crime feel more dynamic and believable.
Overhauled Police System
Rockstar Games has also introduced significant changes to the wanted system.
In previous Grand Theft Auto games, players could quickly attract police attention after committing crimes, sometimes leading to situations that felt unrealistic.
The new system reportedly places greater emphasis on whether a crime has actually been witnessed or whether an alarm has been triggered.
This means committing an offence does not automatically guarantee that police will immediately become aware of it.
The gameplay presentation also highlighted improvements to police behaviour and artificial intelligence, potentially making chases and criminal encounters more unpredictable.
Social Media Comes To Leonida
Another major addition is an in-game social media platform that forms part of the world of Leonida.
Players can interact with live content from fictional influencers and other personalities while exploring the game.
The feature goes beyond simply displaying posts on a screen, as players can reportedly track down certain streamers at their actual locations on the game map.
This creates another connection between the virtual online world and the physical environment of Vice City and Leonida.
The social media system is also expected to parody aspects of modern internet culture while adding another layer of activity to the game’s open world.
New RPG-Style Features
The extended footage also offered a look at new role-playing elements involving the game’s two main protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
The characters can visit gyms and alter their physical attributes, including weight and muscle development.
This suggests that the characters’ appearances and physical conditions can change dynamically depending on how players interact with the game’s systems.
Vehicles have also received additional attention, with fuel becoming a factor players may need to consider.
Another practical feature is the use of personal vehicle trunks as physical storage spaces for weapons and equipment.
Instead of treating a vehicle simply as transportation, the system allows players to use it as part of their preparation for different situations.
A More Detailed Vice City
The footage provides a broader glimpse into Rockstar’s recreation of Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida.
From improved NPC reactions to more sophisticated police behaviour and interactive social media, the game appears designed to create a world that responds more dynamically to player actions.
The extended presentation has also generated significant interest among fans eager to see how the new mechanics will work together in the finished game.
