Country music icon Dolly Parton has been laid to rest beside her late husband, Carl Dean, following a private funeral ceremony attended by members of her immediate family in Nashville, Tennessee.
Parton was buried on Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where Dean was also laid to rest after his death in March 2025. The couple had shared a marriage that lasted nearly six decades, making their relationship one of the most enduring in the entertainment industry.
The private burial marked the final farewell to the legendary singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist, whose career spanned more than 60 years and earned her millions of admirers around the world.
Parton Buried Beside Her Husband
Parton’s final resting place had reportedly been prepared before her death, with a burial crypt arranged for her beside Dean.
A bronze plaque bearing the names of both Parton and Dean was installed at the mausoleum. The memorial also features an image representing Parton’s Tennessee home, adding a personal connection to the place where she will remain alongside her husband.
Although the funeral itself was kept private, arrangements were reportedly made to allow members of the public to visit the graveside and honour the late music star.

Wagoner was particularly significant in Parton’s early career. The two worked together on The Porter Wagoner Show, where he became an important mentor as she established herself in the music industry.
After Parton decided to leave the show and pursue her own career, she wrote I Will Always Love You as a farewell to Wagoner.
The song later became one of her most famous compositions and achieved renewed international recognition after Whitney Houston recorded it for The Bodyguard.
