Charles Okocha has finally settled the score with Portable after being declared the winner of their much-awaited celebrity boxing rematch, which came to an abrupt end when the singer left the ring before the contest was completed.
The rematch, held in Lagos on Friday, July 31, 2026
attracted attention from fans eager to see the two entertainers renew their rivalry following their first meeting nearly three years ago. Unlike their previous encounter, which lasted the scheduled rounds, this contest ended unexpectedly after Portable stepped out of the ring and did not return to continue the fight.
With the bout unable to resume, officials awarded the victory to Okocha, handing the actor and comedian the win he had long insisted he deserved after their first clash.
The rivalry between the pair dates back to December 2023, when they faced off in a celebrity boxing match that saw Portable emerge victorious after four rounds. While the singer celebrated the win, Okocha was far from satisfied with the decision and openly questioned how the fight had been handled.
At the time, Okocha accused the officials of failing to apply the rules correctly and immediately called for another fight.
He wrote:
"How can you give up in the 3rd round when we have 4 rounds? How do you take off your gloves in the third round, leading to total disqualification when the fight hasn’t ended?".
He also maintained that the result was unfair, adding:
"Y’all know this was rigged, with an incompetent referee who knows nothing about boxing rules. Nevertheless, we move on. Rematch coming soon."
Those comments fueled expectations that the two entertainers would eventually meet again, and the rematch finally happened on Friday. However, instead of another full contest, the fight ended much earlier than many had anticipated after Portable exited the ring and did not continue.
Officials subsequently declared Okocha the winner, bringing the contest to a close without the scheduled conclusion inside the ring.
The victory marks a significant turnaround for Okocha, who had spent months insisting that the outcome of their first encounter did not reflect what happened during the fight. This time, the decision went in his favour, giving him redemption in one of Nigeria's most talked-about celebrity boxing rivalries.
Whether the result finally brings an end to the rivalry remains to be seen, but for now, Charles Okocha walks away with the victory after an unusual ending to a contest that had generated plenty of anticipation before fight night.
