Carter Efe said there came a point when he had to rethink the kind of content he was making, especially when his relationship became a major part of what people expected to see from him.
According to the content creator, keeping his relationship and his work so closely connected was beginning to affect him personally. What appeared as simple relationship content to viewers could come with disagreements and tension before the cameras even started rolling.
Carter said he also did not want his own name and achievements to constantly be associated with another person. He wants to have an identity that stands on its own rather than one that depends on who he is appearing with.
Speaking during a livestream, he said:
“I’m a smart boy. God gave me brain. I know say this thing go take my life.
“There was a time I could not do content if I don’t see my woman. If I don’t see my woman, I cannot shoot content.
“You don’t have to attach me to anyone. Like don’t attach my glory also to someone else.
We will now do post then a lot of people will now be saying love, love, love, love. Four thousand comments, five thousand comments. I was tired because behind scene is cr@zy. Your mental health is going.
Carter’s issue with the content was not only about the attention that came after the videos were posted. He also pointed to what happened during the process of making them.
According to him, there were moments when both parties had different ideas about what should be filmed. One person could want to go ahead with something while the other person was completely against it, creating another source of tension.
“The woman will be saying she does not want this, you will be saying you want this, she will be saying no, this is the right one. Issue", he stated.
For Carter, the situation raised a bigger question about how long they could continue creating content that presented a particular picture of their relationship.
He questioned whether it made sense to keep doing the same thing simply because people had become used to seeing them together. While relationship content might attract attention, he said he did not believe it was something they could realistically maintain for years if it did not reflect what they genuinely wanted.
“But for real is that what we want to do for years. No, you can’t deceive people for years", he added.
His comments show why he has chosen to create more distance between his personal relationship and his content. Rather than allowing his work to revolve around a relationship, Carter appears to want more control over how he builds his career and how his individual identity is presented.
The decision also comes from his concern about the personal cost of constantly keeping up an image for an audience. For him, the reality behind the camera matters just as much as what eventually appears in the finished video.
Carter’s position is that content should not come at the expense of his peace of mind, particularly when maintaining a certain image means repeatedly dealing with situations that leave him mentally exhausted.
