Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has raised fresh concerns within the Nigerian movie industry after accusing fellow actor Zubby Michael and other individuals of using the title of her unreleased film, “Queen of Guns.”
Okorie made the allegations in a video shared on social media, where she expressed disappointment over what she described as an attempt to take advantage of a project she had invested heavily in.
According to the actress, she spent close to ₦100 million producing the movie and had also taken steps to protect its title through trademark registration.
The actress claimed that her “Queen of Guns” project is yet to be officially released on any streaming platform or on YouTube. She explained that plans had been made for the movie to first reach audiences in Manchester before being shown in other locations.
However, Okorie alleged that another production had surfaced online carrying the same title. She further claimed that promotional images associated with her own project were used in connection with another movie, making the situation particularly troubling for her.
Her comments also brought Zubby Michael into the controversy. Okorie questioned his involvement in a movie using the title, saying that he had previously agreed to participate in her project.
She reportedly argued that a separate production should have retained its original working title instead of adopting the name of her film.
The actress stressed that the title was not chosen casually and that she had taken measures to secure it. She therefore expressed frustration that another movie could appear online with the same name despite her claims of ownership and investment.
Reports indicate that more than one movie currently appears online under the “Queen of Guns” title. One of the productions reportedly features an image associated with Angela Okorie, while another recently uploaded film is linked to Zubby Michael.
The dispute has generated attention among movie fans and social media users, particularly because of the amount of money Okorie says she invested in her production.
Her allegations have also renewed conversations about intellectual property, movie titles and the protection of creative work within Nollywood.
Despite the seriousness of the accusations, Zubby Michael and representatives of the other productions had not publicly responded to Okorie’s claims at the time of the report.
For now, the situation remains an allegation from the actress, with further clarification expected if the parties involved decide to address the matter publicly.
The controversy also highlights the importance of clear ownership and proper protection of creative projects in Nigeria’s increasingly competitive entertainment industry.
