Veteran Nollywood actor and immediate past President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Adewale Elesho, is reportedly recovering well after undergoing a successful operation.
The development was confirmed by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Oluwafemi Adejonwo, popularly known as Femson, in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Concerns over Elesho’s wellbeing had emerged after the veteran actor was spotted with a noticeable injury on his face during the burial ceremony of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Photographs and videos from the event circulated widely on social media, prompting questions from fans, colleagues and members of the public about his condition.
Amid the concerns, some social media users speculated that the injury could be connected to skin cancer. However, the ANTP has not confirmed such a diagnosis.
Instead, the association stated that Elesho underwent an operation and that the procedure was successful.
ANTP Confirms Successful Operation
In a statement addressing the speculation surrounding the actor’s health, the ANTP acknowledged the growing public concern and urged people to avoid relying on unverified information.
The association said, “In recent days, there have been several posts on social media concerning the health of our dear brother, Prince Adewale Adeoye ELESHO, the immediate past President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners – ANTP, with many speculations including skin cancer. We hereby confirm that the operation was successful. He is stable and recuperating well.”
The statement provided some reassurance to those who had become concerned after seeing images of the actor at Ogogo’s burial.
While the association confirmed that Elesho had undergone surgery, it did not disclose the specific medical condition that necessitated the procedure.
It also did not confirm claims linking his injury to skin cancer.
Actor Recovering Well
Providing a further update, Femson reassured members of the entertainment industry and the general public that the veteran actor was making progress after the operation.
“By God’s grace, his operation was successful.
“He is doing well and recovering.
