'You Are Still Here' – Omoni Oboli Remembers Alexx Ekubo

Weeks after the burial of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has opened up about the emotional weight of his passing, revealing that she is still finding it difficult to come to terms with the loss.

In a heartfelt message shared with her followers on social media, Omoni reflected on the painful journey of grief, explaining that healing is not always a straight path. 

She noted that while some days seem manageable, others are filled with overwhelming emotions and memories that make the absence of a loved one feel even more real.

The filmmaker disclosed that she recently had dreams about the late actor, describing them as reminders that grief often resurfaces unexpectedly. Despite the emotional struggles, she encouraged others experiencing similar pain to remain hopeful and trust in God's presence during difficult moments.

Alongside her tribute, Omoni offered prayers for people mourning loved ones, expressing hope that they would find comfort, strength and healing. 

She also reminded her followers that no one has to face grief alone, urging anyone going through emotional hardship to hold on to faith and the support of those around them.

Omoni was one of several Nollywood stars who paid their final respects during Alexx Ekubo's burial in his hometown in Abia State.

 Since his passing, many actors, filmmakers and fans have continued to celebrate his legacy, sharing memories of his kindness, professionalism and contributions to Nigeria's movie industry.

In another gesture of honouring the late actor, Omoni previously announced that earnings from the YouTube release of her film, The First Lady, which featured Alexx, would be given to his family.

 She explained that the decision was made with the family's approval as a meaningful way of supporting them while preserving the actor's memory.

Alexx Ekubo died in May at the age of 40 after battling an illness away from the public eye. His death shocked fans and colleagues, prompting an outpouring of tributes from across the entertainment industry.

Although several weeks have passed since his funeral, messages like Omoni's continue to highlight the lasting impact Alexx had on those who knew him personally and professionally.

 Her emotional reflection serves as a reminder that grief has no timetable, and the memories of loved ones often remain deeply rooted long after they are gone.
