What started as controversial remarks has now taken a legal turn, with reality TV star Phyna officially moving against content creator Carter Efe and another social media personality, Davrel, over statements she says have seriously harmed her reputation.
Through her legal representatives, Phyna has issued separate demands to both men, giving them seven days to withdraw the statements in question or face legal consequences.
According to the legal notice, Carter Efe allegedly claimed that he had slept with the former Big Brother Naija winner. Phyna insists the statement is false, defamatory, and damaging to her image. She is now demanding that he publicly retract the claim within seven days. If he fails to do so, she is seeking ₦500 million in damages for the alleged harm caused by the statement.
The dispute, however, does not end with Carter Efe.
Davrel has also been served with a legal demand over another statement that allegedly linked him to Phyna. According to the notice, he claimed that Phyna had been trying to sleep with him. Phyna has denied the allegation and described it as another false statement capable of tarnishing her reputation.
Her legal team is demanding that Davrel issue a public retraction within seven days. Should he fail to comply, he could be required to pay ₦100 million in damages.
The legal notice makes it clear that Phyna considers both statements defamatory and unacceptable. Her lawyers argue that the allegations have the potential to expose her to ridicule, public embarrassment, and reputational damage. As a result, they are insisting on immediate corrective action from both men.
For Carter Efe, the demand is straightforward. He has been asked to retract his alleged statement that he had slept with Phyna or face a lawsuit seeking ₦500 million in damages.
Davrel has received a similar ultimatum. He is expected to withdraw his alleged claim that Phyna was trying to sleep with him or risk legal action demanding ₦100 million.
The seven-day deadline begins from the date the legal notices were served. If neither party complies within that period, the matter could proceed to court, where the claims will likely be tested through legal proceedings.
With both notices now public, attention has shifted from online exchanges to what could become a significant legal dispute. Whether the two men choose to retract their alleged statements or defend them in court remains to be seen, but for now, Phyna has made it clear that she intends to protect her reputation through legal means.
