Nollywood actress and producer Omowunmi Dada has unveiled ambitious plans for the premiere of her upcoming film, Black Market, with the production team aiming to secure a Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathered to watch a single movie screening.

The historic event is scheduled to take place on September 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where organisers hope to attract an audience of 50,000 people.

If the target is achieved and officially verified, the screening will establish a new global benchmark for the largest attendance at a film viewing in one sitting.

Announcing the initiative on social media, Dada described the project as a deeply personal milestone. As an executive producer, co-producer and cast member, she said the film represents years of dedication and teamwork.

She encouraged Nigerians to participate in what she believes could become a landmark moment for the country's entertainment industry.

According to the actress, the event is designed to celebrate not only the release of the film but also the creativity and resilience of Nollywood.

She expressed confidence that Nigerians would embrace the opportunity to make history while showcasing the nation's ability to deliver world-class entertainment.

Black Market features an impressive ensemble cast made up of some of Nollywood's biggest names. The film stars Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, alongside Lateef Adedimeji, Scarlet Gomez, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Femi Branch, Tina Mba, Bimbo Akintola and Omowunmi Dada.

The planned record attempt highlights the growing ambition within Nigeria's film industry, which continues to gain international recognition for its storytelling and production quality.

Beyond entertaining audiences, the organisers hope the event will further elevate Nollywood's global profile and demonstrate the industry's capacity to stage large-scale productions.

If successful, the gathering at Tafawa Balewa Square will become one of the biggest cinema-related events ever organised in Africa.

The achievement would not only place Black Market in the Guinness World Records but also reinforce Nigeria's reputation as one of the world's leading film-producing nations.

With anticipation building ahead of the September premiere, fans and movie lovers are expected to turn out in large numbers, hoping to witness history while supporting a project that seeks to break new ground for Nollywood on the global stage.
