Nigerian businessman and music executive Ubi Franklin has shared a deeply personal message about fatherhood, urging young men to think carefully before having children with different women.
Rather than speaking from theory, Ubi based his advice on his own life experiences. He explained that while many people often focus on whether a man has the financial capacity to provide for his children, there are emotional and relationship challenges that money alone cannot solve.
According to him, juggling responsibilities across different households and maintaining healthy relationships with multiple mothers can become far more difficult than many young men imagine. It was from that perspective that he offered what he described as a lesson he hopes others can learn from.
In his words, "One of the worst decisions you can make as a man is having children with different women."
Ubi stressed that his comments were not meant to discourage anyone from embracing fatherhood. Instead, he said children remain one of the greatest gifts a person can have. His advice was simply that, where possible, it is better for children to grow up within one family structure.
He also warned young men against creating situations that could lead to unnecessary conflict between parents.
"Don't let 'baby mama drama' become part of your life," he said, adding that although he has been fortunate in handling his own circumstances, he recognizes that not everyone will be as lucky.
Looking back on his own journey, the businessman admitted there are choices he wishes he had made differently. He explained that experience has taught him valuable lessons, and those lessons are what motivated him to speak openly.
"Children are one of life's greatest blessings, but if possible, they should all be raised in one family," he said.
Ubi's remarks carry extra weight because they reflect his own family story. He is the father of four children from four different relationships. During his marriage to actress Lilian Esoro, they welcomed their son, Jayden. He also has a daughter, Zaneta, from another relationship. His daughter Ariella was born from his relationship with entrepreneur Sandra Iheuwa, while his youngest son, Shiloh, was welcomed with South African mother Nicole Siyo.
Despite acknowledging that his path has been far from conventional, Ubi made it clear that he holds no regrets about his children. His reflection was focused on the circumstances surrounding parenthood rather than the children themselves.
As he wrapped up his message, he said his intention was simply to help younger men avoid mistakes that could make family life more complicated in the future.
"I wish I had done things differently," he admitted, encouraging young men to "learn from my experience" and make thoughtful decisions when it comes to relationships, marriage and starting a family.
