Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about the journey that led to his marriage with actress Adebimpe Oyebade, popularly known as Mo Bimpe, revealing that he once had no intention of marrying a colleague from the movie industry.

The award-winning actor made the disclosure during an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where he reflected on how his plans changed and why religious differences never became an obstacle in their relationship.

According to Lateef, life unfolded differently from what he had imagined, ultimately leading him to marry someone who not only worked in the same profession but also practised a different faith.

Lateef Never Planned To Marry An Actress

Speaking during the interview, Lateef admitted that he had always believed he would settle down with someone outside Nollywood.

He explained that his earlier decision was based on personal preferences at the time, but he eventually realised that life does not always follow carefully laid plans.

The actor said meeting Mo Bimpe changed everything, adding that he came to understand that some events are guided by destiny rather than personal expectations.

“I promised never to marry someone from my industry, but God had better plans,” he said.

His remarks offered fans a glimpse into the unexpected path that eventually brought the couple together.

Why Religion Was Never A Barrier

Lateef also spoke about the religious differences between himself and his wife, noting that he is a Muslim while Mo Bimpe is a Christian.

Despite belonging to different faiths, the actor said religion never created conflict between them because he focused on what truly mattered in a marriage.

According to him, mutual understanding, peace and genuine love were more important than religious differences.

“It didn’t matter to me because the most important thing before religion is my peace,” he explained.

He added that relationships thrive when partners respect one another’s beliefs while prioritising harmony within the home.

Winning Over Mo Bimpe’s Family

Lateef disclosed that Mo Bimpe initially had concerns about their relationship, especially considering their religious backgrounds.

However, he said he was determined to reassure her of his commitment by taking the traditional step of meeting her family.

Rather than allowing uncertainty to create distance between them, the actor said he made his intentions clear from the beginning.

“She had her concerns, but I told her to let me meet her father, and the rest is history,” he recalled.

The couple eventually got married in a ceremony that attracted widespread attention from colleagues, fans and well-wishers across the entertainment industry.

Since then, they have remained one of Nollywood’s most admired celebrity couples.

Lateef Addresses AI Triplets Rumours

The actor also used the interview to clear up speculation surrounding photographs of children that have circulated online alongside him and his wife.

Social media users had claimed the images showed the couple’s triplets.

Lateef, however, dismissed the reports, explaining that the photographs were created using artificial intelligence and did not depict their actual children.

He urged fans not to believe everything they see online, particularly as AI-generated content becomes increasingly common.

“Those children you are seeing with us on social media are not the faces of our triplets because it’s AI,” he said.

Couple Will Reveal Children When Ready

While declining to reveal further details about their family, Lateef assured supporters that he and Mo Bimpe would introduce their children publicly when they considered the time appropriate.

He explained that the decision was based on their desire to protect their family’s privacy rather than responding to public curiosity.

“When we are ready, we will reveal their faces,” he added.

The actor’s comments come amid growing conversations about the increasing use of artificial intelligence to generate realistic celebrity images capable of misleading social media users.

Despite constant public attention surrounding their marriage, Lateef and Mo Bimpe have continued to keep aspects of their family life private while focusing on their careers and shared projects in Nollywood.

His latest remarks have once again highlighted the importance of mutual respect, understanding and peace in marriage, regardless of differences in religion or public expectations.
